Orbi App version 2.41.0.34 showing iPhone as being made by Dahua (RBS850 1+2 satellites)

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to change the manufacturer name of devices attached to the router in the Orbi app? I'm able to change the icon and name, but not the model or manufacturer. For some reason, my Apple iPhone is showing up as being made by Dahua, and I've restarted the app and phone, but that hasn't corrected it. I looked to see how it appeared in the router admin console, and all is correct, but not in the app. If there was a place to change it manually in the app—like there is in the router admin console—I'd be able to correct it, but there doesn't appear to be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Phil

It would be helpful to check the Settings on the iPhone to see if MAC Randomization is enabled.

https://www.miradore.com/knowledge/ios/disabling-wi-fi-mac-address-randomization-on-iphones-or-ipads...

The Orbi 'app' has a feature that is not present on the Orbi web interface (which has not changed since 2016).

The 'app' attempts to use the MAC address to find the manufacturer that the MAC is related to.  When the iPhone 'randomizes' the MAC address, this leads to chaos.

Thanks CrimpOn, Yes, it had a "Rotating Wi-Fi Address" (which I'm informed is the same thing). So that did the trick when I switched it off. It would be handy to know if there was a way of remedying this on all the other devices without having to involve something from a third party.

This feature has been implemented by manufacturers as a security method to prevent monitoring the movement of mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops)

The WiFi system can only deal with what it sees: a MAC address.
