Orbi shows only some of the devices

My topology is as follows:

Virgin Media Hub 3 (router) -> GL.inet router running a VPN -> Orbi (AP mode) -> PiHole as a DNS and DHCP server

I have a mix of static and dynamic addresses in PiHole.

Problem No1

In Orbi, under "attached devices", only some of these IPs appear and some don't e.g. 192.168.2.90, 192.168.2.93 show, but 91, 92 and 94 don't.

Problem No2

My GL.inet router's IP address is 192.168.2.1. In Orbi, I see this device connected as 192.168.8.2. I know that the factory setting of GL.inet router's setting is 192.168.8.1, but that's changed in the settings. An in the end of the day, the connection is GL.inet -> Orbi, not the other way round. Why would it appear there?

I run the lastest firmware V7.2.6.31_5.0.24. Haven't tried reverting to an old one. My other devices are all updated and on the latest firmware.

I have restarted all the devices to clear the IP leases, and flushed the IP table from the PH, but that hasn't affected Orbi.

Re: Orbi shows only some of the devices

In AP mode, the orbi isn't handling dhcp at all. Its down to one of the other connected devices.

You've got the gl.inet running dhcp (I'd assume) since you're running it as a VPN.

Plus you have the pihole acting as DHCP.

If you're running both the pihole and gl.inet as DHCP, you've got some network issues. There should only be one dhcp server.

Re: Orbi shows only some of the devices

You were right, I hadn't disabled DHCP completely, I just had the DNS server's IP address and had it enabled.

Now I've disabled it, but its IP still shows in ORBI (I've rebooted everything on the network). Plus, I've set a static IP for the ORBI as 192.168.2.2 in my PH, and it's still getting a random IP address.

The Orbi isn't managing or doing anything with IP/DHCP while its in AP mode. Thats all to whatever device you have managing it. You might have to reboot devices or release/renew IP address ranges when you're changing dhcp server.

Re: Orbi shows only some of the devices

Is it normal to show devices attached to it?

Where should my devices be connected, in the Orbi, or in the GL.inet ? Right now, they're in both, something like half here and half there.

Re: Orbi shows only some of the devices

The devices connected to the orbi should show it it. Not sure if the ones connected to the gl.inet will show in the orbi.

But all the devices should show in the gl.inet if its managing dhcp. If its not, then whatever is managing dhcp should show them (like you pihole).

You've got a little confusing setup.

I don't use my pihole to manage dhcp (yet) but I make sure its directly connected to whatever is managing dhcp.
