SRR 60 WiFi unstable when satellites connected.
I have a large house, 3700 sqft, and the router is located in the worst possible place. Upstairs, farthest corner away. Always had issues with WiFi in this house and went through a number of routers and mesh devices.
Have had the SRR60 and one SRS60 in place, since I purchased the unit, about a year ago. The SRR is located on the opposing corner downstairs and the sigal is good. But I still was running into issues with connectivity and performance, especially on the 2.4 where I have some printers, Amazon WiFi plugs/lights and older equipment.
As I was still having issues, I assumed more is better, so I purchased two more satellites off of eBay. Zero improvement and the 2.4 stuff got even worse.
The SRS60 and SRR60 are on the latest firmware, 2.7.3.100 and I have done a factory reset on the satellites after the firmware update and before connecting/syncing them with the SRR60.
I have 5 SSID's active, guest network off and about 65 devices total.
Performance was so bad the other day that I powered off all the satellites and restarted the router. Everything is working perfectly and I'm getting 200-300 Mbps throughout the house, even on the opposing downstairs corner.
I'm a little baffled here as it doesn't make sense to me. The devices were connecting to the closest satellite. I've tried things, after searching the forum, like disabling daisy chain, and the other WiFi options with no luck/change.
I'm going to put the 3 satellites on eBay if anyone is interested, lol.
Any thoughts on why the network was so unstable with the satellites would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: SRR 60 WiFi unstable when satellites connected.
More doesn't always equal better with mesh systems.
What is your home made from? (internal walls, sheetrock, plaster lathe, tile, etc).
That is key as if the internal structure of your home does a good job blocking wifi, then using a wireless backhaul won't help much and can actually hind things.
You'd have been better off with your satellite in the middle of the home if it was wireless. The satellites still need a good signal to run off.
In terms of the more satellites, each home will be different. I've tried numerous combinations since mesh first came out with the initial placement of the router, number of satellites, locations of satellites, etc. Each home will be different so you need to try different locations, elevations, and number of satellites in the home to see what works better. Even sometimes a slight change in elevation (sitting on the floor versus on a counter) can make a difference if there's things in the walls like hvac that block signal. The hard part, is that each time a new technology (wireless BE) comes out, I have to rerun the testing to see what is going to work best.
So if you just placed the satellites and walked away, you left a lot of performance and instability on the table. You need to try different arrangements.

Re: SRR 60 WiFi unstable when satellites connected.
Thanks for the reply!
Home is stick and sheetrock and a funny layout. Think two square donuts stacked on top of each other.
Ideally, I'd put the router in the center of the house downstairs but I'd need to do a major CATV pull. The builder only CATV runs in a few of the bedrooms upstairs and the family & living rooms downstairs. Nothing centrally located.
I was going to upgrade the system but all is working fine with just the SRR60. Probably should have started out that way when I got it.
