Hi,
I've been using my orbi ax6000 for a few months, and mostly love it.
My one issue is that I regularly have to reboot my xfinity router due to local slowdowns. Whenever I reboot the router, it takes almost 30 minutes for the ORBI wifi network to allow device connections. The light on the unit stays purple for the entire process.
Seems incredibly long to be down for a simple router reboot.
Thoughts?

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Build in router here by chance? If so, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Thanks for your help! Answers below.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
- v3.2.16.6

Couple of options,
- I will read through these, and see if I need to reach out to the ISP. I should be able to figure out how to disable the wifi radios.

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
oh no. I just changed the orbi to AP mode per suggestion below, and I can't access anything now. The orbi wi-fi is dow, and it will not accept my challenge answers to the questions, so i can switch it back.
What do I do??

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
okay - somehow I got back in and switched it back. I don't like AP mode, since it disables so many other functions.

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
thanks again for sticking with me.
I tried option 2, and it still took 25 minutes for the ORBI network to become reliable.
The problem is that I can no longer access my xfinity router without using the X-FI app. For some reason the password I've used forever to get into my router is not working. The X-Fi app will only allow you to make wi-fi networks invisible. It will not allow you to turn them off.
Next step is to call xfinity to see if they can get me into my router.

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
finally got through to xfinity, and I get back into the router. Wifi radios have been disabled on the xfinity device, and the reboot still took 27 minutes. The Orbi device showed the purple light the entire time.

Re: AX6000 reboot / reconnect slow
quick update.
it turns out the issue was with my xfinity router. I replaced the router this week, and the full cycle reboot was done in about 3:45. The new xFi router is a significant step-up.
I just figured I would post that up for anyone who might experience long waits to reestablish a wifi connection after router reboot.
Happy Thanksgiving all.
