OK, so I am soon getting a AX4200 kit (router and 2 mesh points). I am wondering if I'll be able to upgrade the router part at some point to the AX6000 (if they ever sell it alone) and still be able to use my existing AX4200 nodes? I assume the answer would be yes.
Bonus question is whether I could also configure the AX4200 router to act as just another mesh endpoint to the AX6000 if I go that route.

No.
RBRs can only work in router or AP mode. Not as RBS.

Re: Can I use an AX600 as a router for AX420 mesh points?
OK, so I think what you said was that the AX4200 meshpoints will work fine with the AX6000 router, but that there is no way for the AX4200 router to act as a meshpoint for the AX6000 router?
