But I have a couple RBR50s, can I use them?
Seems like one connected, I had it hardwired to switch, with the two 850 sats wireless back hall. It had connected and showed up once when starting up set up and after reboot and completion of 850 set up, it showed up on Orbi app as wired.
But then maybe later on it was flashing purple, and showed disconnected.
Reset it tried wireless syncing, wired reset again, neither one will connect wiles back haul or either net.

No you can't use the rbs50 as a satellite for the 850 series.
What you can do though is if you have the old rbr50 for it, you can setup that one as an access point and connect the satellites (50's) to it. Either use it as a backup system or extend the network in a different direction. Just make sure to use a different ssid and wireless channels to prevent interference

Re: Can a RBS50 sat be used with RBR850 router
What I was doing was extending the WiFi to detached garage, which I ran Ethernet to, I used a cheapy AP out there to pick up my wireless cam on the drive and garage, also the switch is on my work bench so I can geek on stuff out there. Also it’s for peeps over for pool parties, so changing SSID different from house would be a mess, guess I will try to aquire another RBS850 at some point.

Re: Can a RBS50 sat be used with RBR850 router
If the garage is far enough away, you could use the same ssid on the rbr50 setup.
Most devices have some basic roaming protocol built in.
The smart roaming of using the same system makes it a bit more efficient but if you're far enough away, you might be fine.
It'd be worth trying before buying something else (if you've already got the rbr50 system)
