Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
For some reason I cannot connect to my work Azure file server via SMB. I've been given a link to connect to the server from my Mac which works on every network I've tried it on (even cellular) except for my home Orbi network. I just get the message "There was a problem connecting to the server"
I recently upgraded from an RBK50 infrastructure to an RBK763 and I get the same error on both with a full factory reset of the router.
Am I missing something obvious? I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue
*EDIT: However, I can log in using my iOS devices, which suggests this is a MacOS compatibility issue. I am using Sequoia on the Mac, but this has been going on for at least 2 generations of MacOS*

Re: Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
Some questions:
- What Internet Service Provider (ISP) device provides internet to the Orbi router?
(looking for: is this "only a modem or fiber ONT?" or "does this include a router?") - How is the SMB connection described?
- A URL that gets resolved to an IP address through DNS?
- An IP address?
- What is the LAN subnet on the router? (shown in the LAN Setup web page. Often 192.168.1.x or 10.0.0.x)
(wondering if the SMB server happens by chance to have an IP address in the same IP subnet as the Orbi LAN)

Re: Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
Thanks
- What Internet Service Provider (ISP) device provides internet to the Orbi router?
Only a modem (provided by Spectrum)
- How is the SMB connection described?
URL
- What is the LAN subnet on the router?
192.168.1.x
Extra info. Connection fails from both PC and Mac (doesn't get to username and password entry) on home network (either the old RBK50 network or the new RBK763 network)
When connecting from iOS I can enter username and password and login (although once logged in cannot view any files within the root folder)

Re: Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
Windows Firewall is sometimes touchy about "Public" connections. As a test, could temporarily disable the Windows Firewall?

Re: Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
If you resolve that URL, does it produce a different IP from 192.168.1.x?
(for example, open a Command Window and enter
nslookup <URL>

Re: Cannot connect to Azure server via SMB
Not 192.168.1.x but 192.169.x.x
Don't have a windows box to hand. Primary concern is getting it working on MacOS
Tomorrow will do a quick test trying to connect directly through the modem without the Orbi network, just to rule out the ISP
Thanks again for all the suggestions
