Netgear Orbi modem
I've had issues with my bt setup so Im looking to replace the hub and set up a mesh. Does the orbi router (either the one that comes with the RBKE963 or the RBK853) work without a modem or will I need to leave my smart hub 2 plugged in, in Modem mode?

Re: Netgear Orbi modem
These models of Orbi require a ISP device, either a cable modem (for cable systems) or an Optical Network Terminator (ONT) for fiber optic networks. So, yes, there must be a modem.
There are specific models of Orbi which include a cable modem, but which are not compatible with telephone service or television service over cable. My philosophy is, "have a separate modem". When fiber optic comes to your neighborhood, it will be seriously inconvenient to have a WiFi system with a built-in cable modem.
BT is a mystery to Yanks. My guess is there are forums full of advice on how to install customer WiFi systems on BT.
