Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 4.6.5.14 Released

Update to the board that we've been getting spontaneous router reboot during the workday. Router is on an UPS, as is the ONT. Satellites remained up and reconnected once Router rebooted. Have had 5 reboots over past 2 weeks. I've enabled debug logs for router and satellites, they've requested logs be uploaded once problem reoccurs.

Given all the other non-Netgear issues I reported earlier, I'd hoped to dodge all the NetGear firmware problems but no luck.

things get funny, I can't open a support-ticket because there is no support for the serial-number of my product. So where do you guys open tickets?

Is this NG's tactic to just forbid support-tickets? No tickets no problem?

I am really upset. Amazon review incoming ... I am already looking for a replacement from another brand. This Orbi-Sh%$#! is going back to amazon.

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 4.6.5.14 Released

This is of limited help to us at the moment, but it seems that the new firmware for Orbi RBK850 is now running very well and stable. Maybe Netgear will take pity on us and release an update by the end of this decade for our RBK750s

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 4.6.5.14 Released

Given the history of these issues I suspect Netgear will want to be fairly sure they’ve actually solved it.

I’m personally staying away from beta for this reason. V3 works so not giving that up just yet.

If beta is out there, it hopefully won’t be long before it’s pushed out and for once I’ll agree with Netgear on this. Another release that doesn’t fix it would be far worse than a slight delay.

They still need to sort it out don’t get me wrong. We should never be in a position again where it’s impossible through supported mechanism to go back to a stable release relying on hacks instead

Users are encouraged to contact NG support as this user did and get what was offered up:

Furry we are going in circles lol

I know I need to contact some one. That post dies not say who they contacted. I can’t open a free customer support ticket and others I have concatedral from before not got back.

We start again is there a specific person(s) that we can contact , that others have , and will get a response saying either yea here is the newest beta or no you can’t have it yet.

This should be much easier as they can see our user I’d and can also reach out to us lol.
But know response to that questions will be like that not the rule or policy

Lol
And we are no how well the rules and policies have been so far with this fiasco lol

Try reaching out to a forum Moderator if you can't get to NG support:

@Blanca_O @DarrenM

Ask that user who posted about getting that beta from NG and see if they will share it with you.

UPDATE - After the RMA

Replacement RBR750  was installed but needed NG support as it hung on the password reset during setup. Not a big deal.

It was 3.x firmware and it forced the update... SCARED... Went without a hitch. Decided to not have the satelite on the setup this time since I want to test the strength of signal since I not in a ranch style home. I am in a 4200 sq ft 2 story with the center being a large open octagon shaped living room and everything else is wraped around it. Router is on 1st floor on one side of the octagon. It works perfectly in this environment at full power with everything enabled and no sats. The upgrade or the unit itself was bad but I never got RC. If you are having issues like I did, push for a replacement.

Need to be very clear here - I have to believe you are referring to Furrye38 as an employee of Netgear based on how he / she conducts themselves on this forum. I have a feeling the person behind that ID is NOT an employee of Netgear. They said they have a friend who is. Based on what's been written, it seems like they are a y/o kid. Not sure how people can't see that.

You might consider adding " I am NOT a Netgear employee" to your extensive signature, Furry. Clearly, a lot of people have mistakenly thought otherwise.

For NG employees, if you see a "N" icon next to there user name, this means THEY are employees.

Thanks.

Good to know... and absolutely not obvious. I had to read a dozen of your cut-and-paste postings before I realized you couldn't possibly be a Netgear employee. I repeat, it would be good manners to include that fact in your signature so other people aren't fooled like I was.

Why would anyone think he's a Netgear employee?

All in how they conduct themselves.

  • A massive amount of posts throughout the community could inidicate employee or school kid.
  • Defends Netgear religiously
  • Deflects issues - your devices are not set up right - it's your ISP modem (be sure to reboot it!) - etc.
  • Attempts to post content authoritatively

Take that - with how bad the code has been thiis past year........

If you don't read to understand where someone is coming from or have experience in supporting IT infrastructure, I can see where it would be easy for someone to come to the conclusion they are an employee.

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 4.6.5.14 Released

Installed the update from this complete P.O.S. firmware to 4.6.7.5 and all of my issues went away: no more disconnections of devices from the mesh, and no more daily+ disconnects of the RBR750 from the cable modem. Installed the update to RBR and (2) RBS750s 7 days ago and rock solid at full bandwidth since - I'm getting ~900 megabits on the wired satellite, and upwards of 750 on the wireless connection. Comcast/Xfinity 800Mbps service, so 900 is a good number.

If you haven't installed the 4.6.7.5 upgrade yet, do it ASAP. It actually works.

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 4.6.5.14 Released

Good morning.

It sounds like your Orbit setup is similar to mine and I too am in Florida, but a bit further north on the west coast.  We get similar power disruptions from wind/storms.  Have you run speedtests with your setup since the firmware upgrade and if so, are you getting expected speeds on wired connection to the RBR 750?

We're on Spectrum with a 1GB connection and my wired connection speeds through the RBR 750 are about half what the router is receiving from the Spectrum modem.  This started happening after the firmware upgrade but I can't pinpoint the timing for sure so it may be unrelated.

Thanks.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Are you speed testing at the ISP Modem directly with out the RBR in the mix?

Have you tried updating to the beta thats available?
