Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
So, that could have gone better. Last night, per initial post guidance, updated satellite and then the router. I also did a 60+ second power cycle of each afterward. Immediately, it appeared the update was fine. Everything looked ok. I could login to each web interface and no issues. Quick note, I was on the latest 4.x version prior to the update. I also had not factory reset either the satellite or router in a long time (probably a year or two).
Later, (about an hour) wife noticed Xbox (hard-wired through RBS750 unit which is also hard-wired to the RBR750 unit) couldn't get on the internet. I power cycled the Satellite, switched from Wi-Fi to wired and back, then finally tried resetting it by holding the pin hole until the power led starting blinking amber. It just sat there hard-blinking white (off and on) over and over endlessly. When I pressed the sync button, it would immediately switch to soft-blink white (instead of off/on, it would fade out and fade on). But just endlessly and never latch on. The router would show it was disconnected. Funny thing, even while wireless and showing unhappy on both sides (satellite blinking, and router showing disconnected), I was able to get to the satellite admin webpage. Go figure. Ended up removing the Satellite from the router config (attached devices) and then resetting it again (pin hole) and then using the wizard in the router to add it back again (the sync button on the router stopped triggering any action, no blinks, no lights, etc). With wireless (and 3-4 feet from the router), the satellite would switch to magenta/pink which instructions say it failed the handshake. Finally, after several tries, I switched the satellite back to wired again, and only after being wired, the satellite finally went blue for the first time (happy connection). I moved the satellite back to its normal wired home and it stayed up and happy.
Fast forward to this morning, noticed signal on my phone was only 1-2 bars. I was far from the satellite but within 10 feet on the router. Sigh.
So, I just reset the router (did it via the menu within the web interface, *not* via the pin hole on the back. Went through the setup process and reconfigured everything manually (took screenshots before and didn't restore settings I had backed up just to be on the safe side).
After the reset, some notes:
*Oddly, the satellite rejoined (wired) without having to press the sync button.
*Web interface at one point went Asian characters on me (language set to Auto) after initially being English and making multiple setting changes all in English. Suddenly after applying settings at one point, boom, Asian characters. I had to force it to English (from Auto) and then it was ok again using the top right drop-down.
*New IOT network feature was enabled by default. Had to disable it. Guest was disabled though by default.
*Wired speeds are fine (900+mbps). Wireless is around 650/700mbps on an iPhone 13. I was seeing these speeds before the update.
So yeah, that could have gone better. I'll let things bake to see how it goes.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
Well - Anyone else having issues with the satellites connected with wire jumps to the 2.4ghz wireless as connection type?
I have Router wired to a RBS750 that has another RBS750 hooked up to it.
So RBR750 - wire - RBS750 - Wireless - RBS750.
My wired RBS750 jumps between Wired and 2.4ghz and I keep loosing my wireless connection with my Wireless RBS750. Of course it could be the network cable but this has worked with the old firmware flawlessly except the handover between Router and satellite.
I seem to be at the 172.xxx.xxx.xxx-network. Not picked by me as far as I remember but I do not care.
What can I do?

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
What CAT# cable is being used between the RBR and RBS?
Does swapping RBS with each other show same issue?

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
Interesting. Both of my RBS750's are wired separately to the RBR750 downstairs and it works as designed. All of my 2.4GHz devices are assigned to the Guest Network (which has its own SSID/password) and they connect fine. I use solid copper core, UTP, CAT-6 cable (non-CCA/CCS) for the in-wall wired connection.

See answers in bold @FURRYe38
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update? - DONE
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence: DONE
Turn off and unplug modem. DONE
Turn off router and computers. DONE
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect. DONE
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect. DONE
Turn on computers and rest of network. DONE
Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF? - DONE and I have actually taken away on off the satellites. Seems to work better. Unfortunately.
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices? No, but I have no wired connections on my last satellite.
What channel configurations are currently set on the router? - All by default.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? - 168 + a separate cottage of 26 square meters. But the distance is not a problem.
What is the distance between the router and - Wired first then 7 meters or so, in separate houses between satellites.
satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS. - See above. 7 meters or so since I moved the Satellite a month ago. Has worked flawlessly.
️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected. - The satellites was connected between two houses or that I call cottage. So two outer walls(Swedish style = well insulated 30cm+ per wall), one with clay and one in wood.
What CAT# cable is being used between the RBR and RBS? CAT 6.
Does swapping RBS with each other show same issue? - I killed one of the satellites instead. I now do not have a satellite in my cottage. Should not be needed but as the satellite that was wired in the house jumped in its connection type between wireless and wired. Bought a new cat6-cable yesterday also.

That's quite a significant leap from V4.6.14.3. It hasn't appeared on my admin page yet, but honestly, I prefer to avoid beta testing at my age.

You don't have to update. Up to you.
Already been beta tested.
Good Luck.

So far so good. Not sure how to feel as we now have a satellite that we cannot use.But having a stable connection is king.

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
Just keep the RBS for back up or if something happens. If and when there is another FW update made available, put the 2nd RBS back online and get it updated so it doesn't get left behind. May come in handy later on down the road.
Glad it's working better now. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Are there separate files for the satellites and router? I clicked both download links, but seem to be downloading only the RBR zip file.

Good catch. Guess it is nice to know that even incompetent folks can have a job at Netgear. Not much attention to detail (sigh).
Good Luck with the correct files.

I see, the BLUE DOWNLOAD button is linked wrong for the RBS.
You can get the RBS from this link:

I'll notify NG about this

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
I manually updated firmware a few days ago without any issues. However, after glancing at another device (pi-hole), it seems like the orbi's are reaching out to devcom.up.netgear.com every 5 seconds. I don't have automatic firmware upgrades enabled, so I'm curious why this is happening now. Is anyone else noticing this too?

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
Could that be why my Satellites behave so strange? That I have installed the wrong firmware? Is it even possible to install Router firmware on the satellites?
Today my other satellite stopped working as expected. Seems like my Orbi try to send me between networks and as the Router is far away from where I have the problem I wonder if the signal goes like this:
Satellite(error due to wrong firmware) after a couple of minutes - Send the computer to RBR with very limited coverage over wifi. Reconnect to Wifi when it finds signal - Back to Satellite that repeats the above after a couple of minutes?
edit: Login into the only Satellite I have left is says that the 2.4ghz part of the Wifi is disabled. Can it do that by itself? "Wireless AP: Off".

Re: New - RBR750 / RBS750 Firmware Version 7.2.6.21 Released
The RBS should not be accepting the RBR FW file if your manually applying anything.
I added a more direct link to the RBR and RBS files where you can download them individually.
If you have access to the RBS web pages, I recommend you re-apply the RBS firmware file to it's web page using MS Edge or Firefox browser.
I would do this with the RBS near by or in same room as RBR. Once file is sent and RBS processes the file and reboots and is back to ready, power OFF the RBS and RBR for 1 minute, then back ON. Be sure the RBS come back to ready an BLUE is seen in front then should turn OFF. Check the RBS web page. You may need to factory reset and setup from scratch.

On pihole...
I'm not seeing anything, but mine is not serving up IP addresses - so it probably is not seeing router traffic. Curious - what is your setup?
