Orbi RBR750 automatically going offline?

I have found when I wake my computer in the morning that it will say "internet connection restored" The forums at microsoft seem to think maybe there is some setting on the router making it sleep. I know that other items I have that are connected to the wifi do not do this and disconnect. Would this be a orbi situation or might it actual be the computer? There are no computer settings I see that let it disconnect so just struck me as odd that it always comes up connection restored at least in the morning when I wake the computer up.

I have a single router with one satellite. Router is hard wired to the computer and in the same room.

Is the front LED on the RBR ON PINK when this happens or OFF? OFF is normal operation and working.

Check LAN cable between the RBR and your PC. CAT6 UTP is recommended.

Does this happen with other ethernet connected devices?

Wireless devices connected and working?

Ask MS about power management and disabling of this for the ethernet adapter on the PC.

Re: Orbi RBR750 automatically going offline?

I definitely know when I lose connection cause my wifi goes out. I think it's also a case of bad Verizon home internet signal in my area. I wish fios was around but we are dominated by Xfinity which I gave up cause of the crazy prices.

But no the pink is not on when I wake up my computer. It just says "internet connection restored" in bottom left corner. I'll have to dig into the settings for power management but I believe they removed the options to do much with it. I actually changed the internet adapter setting to low power saving opposed to what it was at a higher setting for power management.

Ya that's a MS thing.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Any of the following enabled? Armor, IPv6, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, Traffic Meter.

This would seem to be an indication that the Windows computer turned off the WiFi adapter during sleep as part of the Power Settings.  When the computer "woke up", it connected to the network.  If the message is annoying, there may be a setting to prevent it from showing up.

Unless there is a message in the Orbi log indicating a change in the router's internet connection, this would not seem to have anything to do with the router.

It's not the message that's annoying. It's just the fact why would it disconnect. The only thing I can do on the wifi adapter in power save is to make it low power saving. There is no disabling it. Apparently there used to be and they got rid of the setting. I'm not one to mess around too much with settings cause do one thing then you mess up 5 other things.

Yeah I looked around and found that. I'm guessing maybe if I turn it off then it won't disconnect the PC. All my other devices no issues cause I can watch TV just fine so I know that the router isn't disconnecting other things. Those are all wifi signal connected anyways thru the Satellite.

I think what we are saying is that the router is not disconnecting the PC, either.  The PC has decided to drop the network connection while asleep and reconnect when it wakes up.  If the PC never goes to sleep, then this problem goes away.

From doing a search for those exact terms "internet connection restored" It possibly is a facebook thing. Why it would have that message pop up like it's coming from the taskbar of the PC I have no idea. Other people have noticed it to and no clue how that comes about. Must be seeing when someone is active and tracking it? Who knows?

Re: Orbi RBR750 automatically going offline?

Computers reconnecting to the network after waking from sleep is a common situation.  I have seen it on a Windows laptop. (I often close the lid to keep the cat from walking on the keys while I am away).  I also recently installed Linux Mint on an old laptop and am amused that every time it wakes from sleep a message pops up announcing, "Connected to WiFi".  There is an option on the notification "Do not show this anymore", which I have not yet checked.
