RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
Is there anyway to force the backhaul through another Satellite all the time? I have a Router in the basement, wired to a Satellite on the top floor in a window facing my Shop with Line of Site to a window with another Satellite, wired to another in the back yard.
The Satellite in the shop is constantly switching from the Satellite on the second floor(Good Signal) to the Router (Poor Signal). Every time it does this its dropping internet connectivity to the nodes in the shop and in the back yard, they are keeping connection to the Wifi, but loose Internet for 30 to 90 seconds. Really starting to piss me off...
Also when I'm if my nodes get too close to the router, they will always default to the router even with it being poor signal... I've tried reducing Signal Strength, but its like it does it to all the satellites and the router...

Re: RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Try turning down the power output of the RBRs wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Re: RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
House is 3000' at the bottom of the hill, 300' from the house to the Shop window, shop is metal, then 100' of Cat6 to a satellite in the back yard on a 20' pole. The last satellite can not see anything without the wire to the shop satellite.
Firmware V7.2.6.31_5.0.24
There is a good 200' of dirt between the router and the shop... no idea why it keeps switching to it.

This is correct. The Transmit Power Level setting affects the user facing radios in all Orbi units.
Is this correct:
- Router in basement. Wired to
- Satellite on 3rd floor. with line of sight to
- Satellite in Shop, that is
- Wired to yet another satellite in the back yard?
Netgear advises against having more than two satellites in a "Daisy Chain". (Not to say that it cannot work, but they do not recommend it.)
https://kb.netgear.com/000062035/How-many-satellites-can-you-add-to-an-Orbi-WiFi-System
I would be tempted to get some concrete blocks to place in the direct line-of-sight between the basement router and the satellite in the shop.

Re: RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
(Sorry. I did not see the last post before sending my comment.)
300ft. is a LONG distance for a WiFi connection. Both of these satellites have omnidirectional antennas.
Most user solve this solve this sort of issue with a pair of WiFi bridge outdoor point-to-point units.
(search Amazon for "wifi bridge point to point outdoor") Such units appear present themselves as Ethernet connections on both ends of the link. They have highly directional antennas and are rated in terms of kilometers, so a 300 ft. distance should be "no problem"
I recommend reading the user reviews, especially those referring to things like "barn", "shop", etc.

Re: RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
Try lowering the power to 25% and see.
What is the distances between the RBR and the 1st RBS closest to the house?
Has a power cycle OFF for 1 minute then back ON or factory reset been performed since v.31 was applied?
Ya thats quite a ways in between.

Re: RBR850/RBS850/RBS850 issues
Well I moved the router to the 3rd floor , and the satellite to the basement. Everything is showing good strength now and so far has stayed stable. I can connect to all 3 satellites via their IPs really fast now, before it was slow to respond, figured that was how it updated, now I see I was wrong..
Good thing I ran 2 CAT6 up to the 3rd floor...

Check back with us in 3 days to let us know how it does.
Ya, basements are not good places for the main RBR.
Hope it keeps working good for you...
