What’s the expected WiFi speed for RBR 750

I have a RBR750 and ATT 1000. Recent pings have gone up to 20 ms. Using firmware v7.2.6.31

My top download speed even next to the router is 700 but I’m usually at 285-300 throughout the house using iPhone 13 Pro Max. Seems like I should be getting more?

I have the Xfinity 800/20 cable plan and routinely get 925/25 download wired and get about 480/24 via WiFi on my iPad and 520/23 on my iPhone 12 regardless of where were are in the house (3500 sq.ft. two-story home). AT&T gateways have notoriously bad WiFi so that may be the issue. I use my own modem and router (RBR 750 and two RBS 750 wired satellites). Ping times are 16-19ms.

The thing that got me thinking about it is that my in laws have my old rbr50 and ATT 500 and get the same download speeds as my setup which makes me thinking some thing is up. I used to be able to get 400 ish on WiFi

As you know WiFi speeds can vary considerably and will always be less than wired. Again, if they are using AT&T-supplied equipment as well that could be the problem. Are you using the Orbi as an AP or have you placed the AT&T gateway in IP Passthrough mode and let the Orbi handle all of the heavy lifting and WiFi?

Yes. Orbi is in AP mode and all WiFi on ATT router is disabled

If the gateway is in IP Passthrough then place the Orbi in Router Mode and see if that helps.

Set the ORBI to router mode but did not see any improvements. Has anyone had luck gaining reasonable performance with a factory reset?

Did you set the IP address that the Orbi RBR gets from the ATT router in to the ATT routers IP-Passthru?

There have been posts about v.31 not working well for other users. You may need to revert back to v.21 as that seem to be the most stable.

Yep, I put the router address in. I have not factory reset but I’ve been running the .31 for sometime and wondering if something is going wrong with the router since this is a more recent drop in performance

IF this has been like this since you installed v.31, I'd revert back to v.21. RBS first, the, RBR lastly.

Is this 700Mbps speed reported by the iPhone 13?

What speed is reported by the Orbi Speed Test (when in router mode)? Both the web interface and the Orbi 'app' will report the same number.

Did I read the conversation correctly that when the RBR50 system was connected to AT&T, the same iPhone 13 reported 400Mbps in the same locations where it now reports 285-300Mbps?  (The RBR50 is a WiFi5 system, which does not support WiFi6 (802.11ax) which the RBR750 system does support.

I admit my testing isn’t very scientific other than today at my in-laws I’m getting around 350 using RBR50 and ATT 500, they live just one mile down from us. Then on my RBR750 I’m barely topping out at 300

I will need to find an extended time to do a factory reset, seems like there is always someone in the house whom has to have internet

This is a bit ambiguous.

• The Speedtest App running on the iPhone measures at the iPhone.
• The Orbi web (or Orbi 'app') measures speed delivered by the ISP to the Orbi router.

Both are useful to know.
