how to move RBS50 to new RBR50 - move satellite to new router
I am replacing my RBR50 router in my home network - but need to keep the RBS50 satellites
I flased all firmware to the latest (2.5.2.4) on both the RBR and all RBS. I also did a backup and restore of the RBR settings from the old router to the new router.
After the new RBR50 boots it does see all the RBS but on backhaul status it shows "Config Sync" I gave it overnight and still never cleared and connected. Interesting enough is there is a RBW30 plug in extender, that thing just connects right in.
I've tried pressing the sync button on both and unplugging but still give the "config sync" . The only thing that did work is to do a 30-30-30 reset on the RBS and start over. However that's a pain.
In the next vew weeksI have to replace the RBR - AGAIN, so wondering if there is an easier way to move a satellite.

RBS AC series are not wirelessly compatible with Orbi AX. You can however ethernet connect RBS50 to the Orbi AX system.

Re: how to move RBS50 to new RBR50 - move satellite to new router
My new and old router as well as the Satellites are Orbi RBK50. RBS50 for the sat and RBR50 for the router.
I ended up getting them all to Sync. I suspect this is the "config Sync" error that a lot of people get. I got around it by doing hard resets on the satellites, and removing the satellites from the web screen of the router. Then adding back. Note: sometimes I had to do this 2 or 3 times, as the router rememvers the MAC ID even if I've deleted the satellite. Next time it will be easier to hard reset the router and all the satellities, then add back in.
I like the Orbi and had great luck with it, but this "config sync" issue is a pain.

Re: how to move RBS50 to new RBR50 - move satellite to new router
What usually works is wireleslly connecting RBS one at a time to the RBR. Giving some time to the RBR and RBS to settle in. Usually about 5 minutes works.
Also be sure the RBS and RBR are all on same version of FW.
Daisy Chain can be disabled as well during setup if your not using Diasy Chain configuration with the RBS.

There is two actually. v4 and v70. Both of which posters have said to have problems. I recommend v16 for best operation on 50 series.

Re: how to move RBS50 to new RBR50 - move satellite to new router
I stand corrected, there is more recent FW just out for the 50 series Orbi:
• Introducing NETGEAR WiFi 7 Orbi 770 Series and Nighthawk RS300
• What is the difference between WiFi 6 and WiFi 7?
• Yes! WiFi 7 is backwards compatible with other Wifi devices? Learn more
