Re: upgrade from RBR50 to RBK763S
Two questions:
- Can the new system be set to exactly the same WiFi credentials as the existing system so that WiFi devices will connect automatically without reconfiguration? Yes. I have done this for 20 years (and have lost count of how many WiFi systems have been replaced).
- Is it worth it? That's a tough question. The original Orbi is a WiFi5 system. For several years now, new phones, tablets, laptops, and even desktop computers have supported WiFi6. (Lately devices support WiFi6E and WiFi7) Of course, none of the existing Internet of Things (IoT) gizmos support the newer technology - and never will.
Make a list of the most commonly used WiFi devices. How many of them support WiFi6? Do any of them support WiFi6E?
Another question is coverage. Is the current WiFi coverage adequate? Are there "dead spots" where WiFi performance is terrible and the family complains?
