Re: Adding a satellite
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Orbi AC products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Orbi and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

I have purchased an additional satellite for my RBR40 Orbi system. I cannot for the life of me get it to connect . I have two other satellites that work fine and came with the original router. One is connecting with a cable and one is used vis wifi. Why won’t this new one connect. It just keeps coming up with the purple ring late. I’ve tried moving it closer but still no link. I’ve tried adding on the orbi app but it’s not picking it up. Could it be a fault with the satellite.
I have had more success syncing satellites using the Orbi web interface (http://orbilogin.net) than with the Orbi 'app'.
Select the bottom menu item Add Orbi Satellite and follow the directions.
Since this unit was not part of the initial package, it would not hurt to do a Factory Reset on the satellite.

And, I would definitely do the initial setup in the same room as the router. If it won't work there, it won't work anywhere.
