Can't perform update if Orbi RBR20 is offline
Hello all,
Hope someone can help me here. My Orbi is offline and I'm unable to perform a firmware update from my I phone. Tried to perform it through my PC to no avail.
Thanks, Adam

Re: Can't perform update if Orbi RBR20 is offline
If by "offline" you mean not connected to the Internet, that will not stop a PC from manually updating. After downloading and unpacking (unzipping) the zip files to extract the ".img" files for satellite and router. Open a web browser and connect to the Orbi at the IP address of the Orbi, which is usually 192.168.1.1. i.e. "http://192.168.1.1" (no quotes). Log in with the administrative credentials, "admin" and the password (not the WiFi password). Firmware update is on the Advanced Tab, Administration, Firmware Update. Select the "Manual Update" tab and follow the directions.
Web pages are almost impossible to see on a tiny iPhone screen, and the iPhone "app" does not have an option to manually update firmware.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
What browser are you using?

Re: Can't perform update if Orbi RBR20 is offline
I'm using an Arris NVG 589 router and FireFox is my browser though as of now I'm going to try and use IE to try and perform the update manually.
At the bottom of my I phone screen it says Version 2.4.12.5 on the Orbi app.

Re: Can't perform update if Orbi RBR20 is offline
Your modem has a built in router already I believe.
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
I would try option #3...
