Netgear Orbi and ATT Pace 5268 Router
Using the Netgear Orbi, is using the Pace 5268 w/ DMZ+ better or using the Arris with IP Passthrough, which one would allow maximization of the 1gbps speed of the ATT fiber. The issue I am faced with the past few months is, the Netgear Orbi seems to have a download speed of 50mb - 70mb and upload speed of 250mb - 300mb. Initially, I thought it was my line, but on the ATT Pace, I am getting the speed around 800mbps using the speed test tool within the router, but on the laptop I see around 400 - 500 mbps. I can't seem to figure out why the Netgear Orbi is clocking very slow download speed. I am using a Cat 5E cable between them and tried different cables already.
If there is little to no difference, then I can keep the Pace 5268 or go through this pain cycle of trying to get the Arris. I don't know how competent ATT departments are, but after 4 contacts to their support and each time they confirmed with me they will ship me the Arris, I've been receiving the Pace router twice. Once they never sent anything. It is a painful process trying to obtain this Arris router.
Any suggestion on how resolve this slow issue on the Orbi or is this a known issue on compatibility? I have one main and two statellites. I tried to disconnect the statellites to see if it was the mesh causing the issue, but same issue. Using the latest available firmware.

Re: Netgear Orbi and ATT Pace 5268 Router
What Firmware is currently loaded?
Modem Combo Units:
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Modem FW may have broke good speeds between the modem and Orbi in router mode:

Try configuring the Orbi RBR or AP mode with the ISP modem as suggested in Option #3....

Re: Netgear Orbi and ATT Pace 5268 Router
Thanks. I think I am using #2 right now with the DMZ+ with the Pace 5268. Unfortunately the Pace nor anyone of ATT routers support true bridge mode. The DMZ+ is basically a form of IP pass through that forward all traffics on all ports to the one connection to the Orbi.

Others posted about this same model modem...
Does your ISP support a stand alone modem option? This would be prefferred over the gateway modem for use with the Orbi system.

Re: Netgear Orbi and ATT Pace 5268 Router (Slow download issue)
FYI for anyone who has similar problem. This fixed the slow download issue I am having between the Netgear Orbi and ATT Pace 5268. I am not getting the 800mbps that I get if connected directly to the ATT router, but I am getting 500-600mbps. Much better than what I was getting before.
