Orbi RBR10 place in network
Hello,
Since a few days an Orbi RBR10 has been placed in my house, it was done by someone but now I am wondering if it was correctly placed (company is not getting back to me).
Anyways let me describe how it looks currently.
Internet Provider Modem -> Switch -> Orbi and other devices
Is this correct?
Somehow I have a feeling it should be more:
Internet Provider Modem -> Ordi -> Switch -> other devices
But I can be totaly mistaken of course.
I tried to find a clear manual but failed in my search.
Thank you very much for your help.
Willem

You are correct. If the Internet Provider Modem is "only a modem" (not a router or WiFi router), then the correct installation should be:
Internet Provider Modem->Orbi router->Switch->other devices.
If the Internet Provider Modem is actually a router, then it will work the way it is, but is not recommended unless the Orbi is placed in Access Point (AP) mode.
It is not critical ("the sky is falling!" - a reference to Chicken Little), but there are definite issues with having the provider device set up as a router and the Orbi also set up as a router. Here's what Netgear says: https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
p.s. sorry for the attempts at humor. It is late here and Pinot Grigio is my antidote for "the Covid-19 Blues"

Re: Orbi RBR10 place in network
Hi,
Thx for the feedback. I will maybe later today switch some wires to get the following:
Internet Provider Modem->Orbi router->Switch->other devices
For me it is a bit early for the wine, starting to think about lunch now.
