Orbi RBR50V2 and Nighthawk DC7000
Hi
I am currently running the Orbi RBR50 Router with three RBS satelittes from a BT (ISP) Smarthub Router/Modem with the wifii disconnected on the ISP R/M but there is no facilty to use "Modem only" mode on the home version of the ISP BT R/M so am geting NAT clashes and drop outs on the internet connection, and my PS4 throws everything when i connect to PS4.
My Orbi otherwise works well over two storeys and multiple rooms with loads of brick walls....but I suspect occasionally clashing with the Router element of my BT R/M. My Mac is currently cabled to my ISP BT R/M, and works becuase it is using the Router element of the R/M, which I cannot "Bridge".
I have now bought a Netgear Nighthawk D7000 with the intention of running it in Modem mode only but looking at community posts am seeking some advice, as there appears to be diffirent routes of connecting my gear.
I currently have DSL cable to ISP BT R/M and Cat 7 cable to RBR50 then Orbi wifi throughout the house.
I would like to swap the ISP BT R/M for the Netgear D7000.
I would like to cable my PS4 and Mac to the RBR.
SOOOO....my question is this.......when I swap out my ISP BT R/M for the Nighthawk D7000.....should I put the Nighthawk in "Modem only mode" and connect my MAC and PS4 etc by cable to the RBR50 and then use its wifi.......
ORRRRR...as I have read on here......switch off the wifi only on the Nighthawk D7000 and use the AP mode on the RBR50 and retain the RBR wifi.....
What could the advantages of either set up be.....just want a stable system...its ok as is but I think router/NAT clashes are causing problems and internet drops?
Thanks in advance

Re: Orbi RBR50V2 and Nighthawk DC7000
Ask you ISP about what is available for a DSL modem that doesn't have a built in router. Since you have the Orbi system already as a router and wifi, you don't need a modem with the same features. Thought the D series modem can be put into modem only mode. This would help with double NAT issues.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
