Orbi wifi router RBR40 satellite system not connecting to some devices
The Internet crashed a week ago and had the provider reset and ever since some devices, my kid's fire tablets, Roku tv, and daughter's notepad not getting a connection. It appears that using an alternate router these same devices work so it's definitely the Orbi system. Is there an update that might fix this? has anyone else had this issue and how do I fix?
I called to get the gearhead service through Netgear and the service was at first not helpful, then they never answered the phone (I realize it's COVID but to some extent, that can't always be the excuse) so I canceled. My system is 18months old and shouldn't (in my opinion) be obsolete and since it's working for most of the devices there has to be something I can do?

What modem do you have?
What router firmware is on it?
What firmware is on the satellites?
Do you notice a difference if its devices connecting to the satellites or the router?

Re: Orbi wifi router RBR40 satellite system not connecting to some devices
I have a Hitron CODA-4582 modem with a mid-range router built-in, but I've disabled the router so the Orbi system will work. I had a different modem a few days ago, but the issue is the same.
The firmware I don't know of any built into the GCI carrier. Both Satellites work, and the system operates the same when I disconnect them - no difference in improving my device connectivity. All devices recognize the wifi but say "no internet."
A week ago I didn't have this problem.

Re: Orbi wifi router RBR40 satellite system not connecting to some devices
Have you tried with the hiltron's router function running (disable its wifi) and putting the orbi in access point mode?
this would leave the hiltron fully controlling the routing fuctions.

Hiltron wifi is disabled already. Not sure what you mean by putting the Orbi in "point access mode" or if there is a procedure to do that--maybe this could be a solution? what about the reset pinhole on the back of my Orbi, should I consider resetting and seeing if the problem resolves itself?

You can always try a reset.
On the hiltron, disabling wifi doesn't disable its routing functions. If the routing functions on it are running at the same time as the orbi's, then you're ina double nat.

Re: Orbi wifi router RBR40 satellite system not connecting to some devices
All router functions from the Hiltron are disabled, however by reconfiguring my Orbi router as an access point will I need to turn back on those functions previously disabled?

I think you mean Layman's terms? Its simply my setup at home. I have a netgear CAX80 modem/router. I think connect the netgear RBK53 system to it with a GS716v2 switch and then a tp-link m9 plus mesh system in ap mode.
If you put the orbi system in access point mode, you would need to re-enable the hiltrons router functions.

Yes, "Layman's terms" is what I meant - go figure and I'm an English major...I should ask for a refund:)
I'm doing this procedure now

Re: Orbi wifi router RBR40 satellite system not connecting to some devices
Couple of other laymen options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
