I never knew how these wifi strengthners worked. Currently I have At&t 6mpbs due to the fact that my neighborhood does not have fiber optic wires. I wouldnhave paid for better performance if it was available to me. Would the Orbi increase my mpbs or will only keep it at a constant 6? Like I said I am not sure how it helps with an already low mpbs I am paying for.

No. Unfortunately, Orbi cannot increase your Internet connection speed. No product can do that.

You could check with AT&T periodically to see if faster speeds become available.
