RBS40 power adapter physical specification

I want to extend the power adapter that came with the RBS40 but am at a loss with the exact size of the plug.  I thought it was a 2.1x5.5 mm male plug but I've order two different ones on AMAZON and the plug will not fit the female sock on the satellite.  I've search on Netgear and on the Community and I can't find any physical specifications on the power adapter.

Can some please point me to the specs?

I have never found specifications on the Netgear web site for the power plug.  If you come across them somehow, please post.

All the power supplies on Amazon that claim compatibility with Orbi say 2.1x5.5mm plug or say nothing at all.

He has a power adapter. What he wants is an extension cord on the 12v side so the satellite can be placed farther from the electrical outlet while the adapter remains plugged into the outlet.

So why not put a 110v power extenstion cord on the 110v side of the adapter can call it good? This is easier and less hassle. The 110v side is known style and hasn't changed in moons age. Come in many different lengths and colors.

I have used female->male extensions for 12v security camera power.  I can think of some reasons to want a very tiny 12v cable rather than an electrical extension cord:

• Low voltage cable can be run through walls and 110v extension cords cannot.
• Esthetics - want to hide the large power adapter and there is no place within 6 feet of the satellite location to do so.
• Low voltage cable can be easier to hide than extension cords.

It is a big disappointing that Netgear does not publish the specs, just as they do not sell individual power supplies.

That's correct.  I want to put the 

RBS40 up on a high shelf and need to extend the 12 v side.  I bought (2) 2.1x5.5 extensions but neither will plug in the router.

I thought it was going to be simple.  Someone out there had bought an extension that worked but I guess I was wrong.  Back to the drawing board;-)

That's what I'm doing.  It just looks bad.  I wanted to use an extension to run it down the door frame then along the baseboard behind a cabinet to the outlet.

Grab you a white power extenstion cable and some brass screw hooks. Iv'e done this for some LAN cableing I had to run in my pre-existing home. Brass hooks help keep the wire in place and more out of site and makes it look nice.

Amazon just delievered my 12v extension cables 5.5*2.1mm:

My calipers measure the stock power supply (male end) at between 5.47  and 5.53mm. This extension cable also measures between 5.47 and 5.53mm.  (My hands are shaky or something.) The stock power supply is plugged into the female end and the male end plugged into my Orbi.  Orbi powered up and I am logged into it.

There is always a chance that Netgear designed the RBS40 to have a different power socket, but the Nerd in me asks, "Why???"  All those Amazon listings say they work with almost every Orbi ever made. Can you give your cables another try?

Harbor Freight will sell a set of calipers for very little.

Thanks.  Have you tried to plug in the male end?  I bought from Amazon two different makes of the same cable in white but could not plug them into the router.  The plug is different though it is  5.5 x 2.1.  The plug has a small center that wraps aroung the center of the female jack.  It will not accept this type of male jack.  

I looked at your purchase online and it appears to have the same kind of male plug.

Yes, I unplugged the power cable, plugged the male power cable into the female end of the extension and then plugged the male end of the extension into the Orbi female socket.  There are tiny springs inside the female sockets which require the male plugs to be inserted with a bit of force, and which also 'grip' the plug so it won't fall out easily.
