Two networks of same name. How do I eliminate one?

I seem to have two networks of the same name causing conflict of some devices. How can I eliminate one of the networks?

Re: Two networks of same name. How do I eliminate one?

On the Orbi products, there is only one network 'name' (SSID).  Each of the Orbi units (I have four) broadcasts that SSID on both 2.4G and 5G WiFi channels.  That means that a device looking for WiFi in my house will see 8 appearances of the Orbi name and will select from them.  Most WiFi devices display only a single instance of the SSID and hide the 'details' from the user.

I discovered that Samsung devices can actually show all of the access point radios (with their signal strength).  Sort of cool.

Since this does not resolve your problem, perhaps you could provide some more detail about what is happening.

Re: Two networks of same name. How do I eliminate one?

Thank you for response. for additional detail, a couple of weeks ago my orbi router and established network was working correctly although it had been without issue for many months. I could see the network but password did not work for any device. After many attempts of resetting and other efforts, I took the Orbi to factory setting, went through new setup using same network/password which worked except for a few devices, such as sonos. It now seems I have two networks with the same name although the password of the original does not work on one of them. It is this second network (possibly the original) that I would like to remove from Orbi although I do not know how

I appreciate any help!

Can you please explain more about how there appear to be two networks with the same name?

Do some WiFi devices display the Orbi WiFi SSID more than once? (which devices?)

The Orbi broadcasts only one primary SSID (and one Guest SSID).  Each of the Orbi units (router and satellites) broadcasts exactly the same SSID with exactly the same password.

The same duplicate SSID seems to appear across all devices. Screen shot attached. Network is called Casa de Sammy

Re: Two networks of same name. How do I eliminate one?

Apart from realizing that your neighbors seem a lot more fun than mine......

I would attempt to discover the MAC address of the unit that is broadcasting this rogue WiFi SSID.

On Windows, the free WiFiInfoView program shows every access point that is broadcasting an SSID (along with a lot of information about signal levels, channels, etc.)  Don't know if there is an equivalent for Apple products.

When the Factory Reset was done, was the satellite also Factory Reset?
