orbi keeps rebooting

my orbi reboots a few times a day.

support suggested

1. updating to the latest firmware

2. disabling my verizon wifi with these instructions -

i tried both and it still reboots.

the latest firmware helps and it doesnt reboot as often but still does.

any suggestions?

could it be a defective unit?

i have the RBK50 with one satellite.

To clarify, when you say Orbi reboots, do you mean the device turns off and on?

the router flashes white for about a minute.

Also the logs in the admin section clears.

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last update?

Is there a buit in router and wifi with the ISP modem? If so, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.

What Firmware is currently loaded?

I updated to the latest one - 2.5.1.8 it seems to help. less reboots now but it still happens every few hours.

i used the default - auto. Also switched it to a manual channel and neither makes a difference

yes many. I live in nyc in a large apartment complex. maybe around 10

i already tried switching to AP mode and disabling the wireless on my fios modem

is it hardware related? Is it possible i have a defective orbi router?

Possible the system is faulty, if it continues to exhibit this problem after a reset.

yes. after doing so its better but still reboots a few times each day.

Ya, it should be rebooting at all. I would file a support ticket with NG support and get more help and information on this. Ask about an RMA.
