Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
So, update. Even the Samsung 24 Ultra has started with the same issue, wifi calls are dropped which could be a handoff issue and sometimes the wifi will flip off back to data when next to one of the satellites just like the pixel 8 pro. There is one spot where I work if I don't move around will stay online next to the router. Maybe it will work some day.
Model version: Orbi 973
Firmware: V9.12.0.2_1.2.7
windows 11

FYI, new FW available:

I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970. When I first got it every time the pixel would connect to the router, the router would immediately reboot. They gave me beta firmware which I think helped but sometimes would still kick the phone off the network. I presently have have firmware v9.10.2.3 on the router and I connect fine to the satellites it seems with the same firmware but if my signal gets handed off to the router it immediately kicks the phone off the network and the phone eventually connects fine to a satellite. Is any new firmware in the pipeline to help with this? I am writing this at 3am because I need my phone to connect reliably to this network. The orbi 960 system worked great with this phone and the pixel 7 pro for the past 1-2 years.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
Unfortunately this firmware update did not fix the issue. I am having the same issue with samsung 24 ultra. I changed phones from the pixel 8 pro to samsung thinking this would help. I still have a pixel 8 pro I can test so will see if it changed anything in the next few days. I have 4 satellites. When I walk upstairs with full signal wifi calls will drop or if I walk outside. I will have to manually disconnect from my wifi network and reconnect to resolve the issue but only if I don't walk to other rooms. However this issue is not as pronounced on the IoT network. Anyway I hope a solution will come some day.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
Does this happen with turning off all but one RBS?
Still happens if you disable the IoT and Guest Network?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️?

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
The only way we got ours to connect, was to use the IOT ssid, and dedicate that one just to the google pixel, and it seems to connect ok to that one only...

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
That isn't your issue, mine are all hardwired (to a 10G wired network to boot) and can't get pixel 8 to connect reliably. It has nothing to do with my sattelites, it is only google stuff...

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I worked with them directly for MONTHs they kept having me try beta firmware, nothing fixed it, they have no solution, I have no confidence in them figuring this out. I only own apple products, it is my husband that has a pixel so he goes through hell trying to keep it connected...

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
I have updated to the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with the same issues. The new pixel may have a better algorithm for deciding when to use the cell network vs wifi calling but I have had two dropped calls this morning on wifi calling with wifi 7 on the Orbi 970/971. I have uploaded schematics with netgear support and sent all my phone and router logs. I have gigabit internet and 100% signal strength through the house with 4 satellites. If I stay in one place I can usually stay connected.

2789 square feet per google, 4 satellites for complete coverage plus 1 router, guest house not included in calculation. The wifi calls drop as I am looking at a satellite on the desk when coming into the kitchen.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
What's the building materials comprised off? Mostly wood?
For that size of home, you only need the RBR and 1 RBS. Having 4 would be too much: https://youtu.be/UR0viMLISz4
Would cause any wifi device to have problems picking and locking on to one good signal as there maybe too much and too much wifi over lap.
I have a 5K sq ft home and only run two RBS. I can get away with one RBS.
Can you try turning OFF 3 RBS and check with your device again?

Hello Community,
We are aware that there have been issues reported with Google Pixel 8 on the Orbi Mesh 970 network. Please be advised that our engineers are diligently working with Google on a fix for this issue.
We appreciate your patience!

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
Same here. They have been yanking me around with an open ticket and about half a dozen beta FW updates for the better part of 6 months now with zero insights as to what is wrong or why this is happening.
I have a Pixel 8 pro and also an iphone 15 I test with.
These taken within a minute of each other (pixel 8 pro on the left of course).
The behavior resets after toggling wifi off/on and then it occurs again with no particular trigger identified. This seems to happen with other google devices as well such as my google TV, etc.

Re: I have spent weeks trying to get my pixel 8 pro to work on the orbi 970
When these speed tests were performed, how were the two devices connected to WiFi?
- If I read the specs correctly, iPhone 15 supports WiFi6 (802.11ax) with 4x4 MIMO and not 6E or 7.
So the iPhone was probably connected to the 5GHz, WiFi6, correct? - Pixel 8 Pro supports WiFi7 (802.11be) with 2x2 MIMO.
But it is not clear from the post what the connection was at the time of this speed test.
(apologies if this was explained previously. a conversation going back to Dec, 2023 is a bit hard to follow)
Thanks
