Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
So, i hear all of you 🙂
I force the 2.5g interface on the router to 1g and i haven't seen the issue so far, which indeed indicate that there is problem in the driver of this interface.
I am now testing the 10g interface with a transceiver, let see how it goes.
Thanks all for you support, really appreciated

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Let us know how it turns out.
Ya seen odd issues with some ethernet adapters out there. I've had good experiences with Marvell chip sets. Have one of there 10Gb cards in my PC now.

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
So, i'm still experiencing theses disconnections.
I've connected the RBE971 to a 10g SFP+ interface of my router, through a compatible transceiver.
Interface flapping still happen from time to time, despite the fact that i upgraded both RBE971 and RBE970 to latest firmware.
I've open case 48241048, but i'm stuck with support 😞

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Does the front LED on the RBR turn PINK or RED when this happens?
Can you try a ethernet port instead of a SFP device connection to see if this continues?
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Hi,
I tried an ethernet port already, see the begining of this thread for reference.
The reboot sequence have been done in the order you mention.
I did not factory reset yet, i'll try when i'm alone at home.
Regarding the factory reset, i know what everyone will say, but this firmware is based on openwrt, and i never found any documentation explaining how, and why, it can solve things, but yeah, we are not immune to a bug which can be solved this way.

Does the front LED on the RBR turn PINK or RED when this happens?
Seen many issues with posters and myself cleared by a FR.
Something else to try as well with the RBR:

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Yeah, but factory reset + restore backup conf is more or less what happen during firmware upgrade ...

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Need to not apply the restore backup config after a FR. May introduce the problem. Need a clean FR and setup from scratch. If this problem is cleared, save off a new backup to file.

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
Starting from scratch is really painfull, and since Netgear do not provide any api, restoring the backup configuration is the only solution we have.
Keep in mind, that this is just openwrt with a bunch of script, nothing much.

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
There is more to it then that. LOL
Anyways, try the FR when you can and also try a fan on top of the RBR and see.

Re: RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections
I did take a look at the firmware, and it is 99% shell scripts and few binaries here and there ...
I'll try it anyway when i got time, despite the fact that it will not solve anything, there's no magic here, this is computer science.
Sadly i do not have any fans, and i really hope that this is not the solution, otherwise i'll have no other choice than return the product.
