Ugrade of cisco linksys E4200 to Orbi RBK50 mesh wifi
I am upgrading a old Cisco Linksys E4200 router/modem to a Netgear Orbi RBK50 Mesh WiFi.
Our old Cisco router appears to be functioning as a modem as well , directly receiving the (internet) fiber cable.
Using the Orbi install app, can (should) I keep our existing network name (SSID) ,password key, and devices (laptop, mobile phone, TV, etc.)

Yes you can keep the same SSID name and PW as the prior router. If the current router is working you can configure the Orbi for AP mode, disable the wifi radios on the current router and use the Orbi as your wifi network source.

Re: Ugrade of cisco linksys E4200 to Orbi RBK50 mesh wifi
Thanks. Our new Orbi WiFi network is up and running.
If even possible, would there be any benefit to my using the new Orbi RBK50 as a modem like its predecessor Cisco.
That is, internet cable would go directly frim the wall into the Orbi "internet" port .
I'm clueless about efficiency differences but there would be one less device (Cisco router/modem) on the table 🙂

The orbi system doesn't have a modem built in, youll need a modem in front of the RBR. The RBR is just a wifi router only.
IF it's up and running...enjoy it for now.
