Connect and configure ProSafe JGS516PE

I am looking for a means to configure my ProSafe Switch JGS516PE. The configuration utility is at end-of-life status. Is there a current version of this utility?

    The JGS516PE does support a Web UI like most non-legacy Smart Managed Plus switches. RT*M helps -> Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switches Models GS105Ev2 GS105PE GS108Ev3 GS108PEv3 GS116Ev2 GS305E GS308E JGS516PE JGS524Ev2 JGS524PE

If you are to lazy to grab the switch IP address (it does DHCP by default - however on all untagged VLANs) from the router DHCP table or connected devices table, Netgear has made the NETGEAR Switch Discovery Tool (NSDT) available for Windows and MacOS.

I appreciate you taking the time.

I will continue to search for a way to change the default IP (192.168.1.239) and Gateway (192.168.0.254).

Maybe the app you mentioned in your response will work; maybe it won't.

Nonetheless, I will continue to teach myself and avoid asking other self-righteous individuals for help.

      Have a great day.

The default IP is 192.168.0.239 - but only if there is no DHCP server handing about a valid network config for your network. Connect the switch to the network resp. your router, power-off, and power-on again - usually the router DHCP server will assing an IP address in the LAN. The NSDT will show the IP address where you can point your Web browser to.

Of course you can take the hard way and change your computer interface IP address.

A good starting point might be the NETGEAR 16‑Port or 24-Port Gigabit Smart Managed Plus Switch JGS516PE or JGS524PE Installation Guide , especially the part on "Access the Switch".

        Web Browser Access

You can configure a switch when it is connected only to your computer
(off‑network), or connected to your computer and your network (on‑network).

To use your web browser to configure your switch:

        1. If you are configuring the switch off-network, record your computer’s
TCP/IP configuration settings, and then configure the computer with a static
IP address of 192.168.0.210 and with 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.
If you are unsure how to do this, visit netgear.com/support and search for
        Static IP address on computer.

        2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the switch.
If the switch is connected to a network with a DHCP server (which usually is a
router), use the IP address that the DHCP server assigns to the switch. If the
switch is off-network or connected to a network without a DHCP server, use
the switch’s default IP address, http://192.168.0.239.

If you are unsure how to determine the IP address of the switch, you can use
the NETGEAR Insight mobile app, ProSAFE Plus Utility, or NETGEAR Switch
        Discovery Tool.

The app is for the switch discovery - nothing else.  Have you installed and run it at all? It would help to discover what IP address the switch has currently.

For the Web browser access on a direct computer-switch connection, you need network addresses in the same subnet. The hint is in the QSG. But I wanted to avoid the hard way for the ignorant reader.

Once you have a workable network config matching the switch IP address subnet, consult the fine NETGEAR User Manual Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switches Models GS105Ev2 GS105PE GS108Ev3 GS108PEv3 GS116Ev2 GS305E GS308E JGS516PE JGS524Ev2 JGS524PE  p.46 "Specify IP Address Settings for the Switch" - where essentially the same information is repeated.

In case you expect yet another utility replacing the legacy ProSAFE Plus Configuration Utility just to change the switch network controller IP config - there is none.
