Firmware Updates on every switch?

Howdy Folks - new to the details of networking and can use some guidance on firmware updates.

I've replaced most of my cat5e cable with Cat6 out of necessity and centralized all ethernet drops into one switch (JGS516PE). From there traffic goes out to some locations where the GS105PE is present.

I've been able to update the firmware on the main switch, but I'm not clear if I also need to on the GS105PE's. When I try to login to admin screens, it can only see the primary switch.

Are separate firmware updates necessary for each switch in the network?

Thank you.

All these switches are standalone devices, requiring their own firmware.

No idea on how you try this login. Each switch requires an IP address, usually these switches are configured to request the IP address from the local network DHCP server. Why ever (for simplicity), these switches try for a short time only, to fall-back to the default IP address.

I suggest to reboot all these other switches while the primary switch is and the router connection is up and running.

Then use the NETGEAR Switch Discovery Tool (NSDT) to find these switches IP addresses, or consult your router DHCP server or it's logs or the attached device list, based on the MAC address printed on the product label as a reference.
