No DHCP on NETGEAR GS316EP via FritzBox
Hi all, I have a issue with my GS316EP (Firmware 1.0.3.7), if I am connecting it directly to the FritzBox the switch doesn't get any IP address from the FritzBox, the DHCP is marked as active: ...

Hi Kurt,

Hi,
the tool is working, but I have only access via the static address, the switch doesn't get an ip address assigned from the FritzBox, thanks.
Now I have another problem, I have connected the GS110EMX with the 10GB/s port to the GS316EP 10GB/s SFP RJ45 modul, but I get no connection (only 1,5 meter CAT7 cable), link LED on GS110EMX says all good. If I now connect the GS110EMX 10GB/s port with only one of the 1 GB/s ports of the GS316EP connection is working, what is the problem on the SFP 10GB/s port, is there a difference between the plugin modules?

Hi,
switch got now ip address after some time from the FritzBox, I don't know why it takes more then 30 minutes. I also found out that Netgear switches needs a AXM765 10GB/s RJ45 compatible modul, will see if this helps and solve my issue.

Hi
Most plus switches have a non-sopisticated dhcpd client. Don't know exactly fo the subject GS316EP, Mo's Plus switched are built on a non-managed core switch and tiny 8051 class uC handling dhcpcdand the IGMP multicast controls. This dhcpcd tends to time out very quickly if not receiving an answer from the DHCP server in time, tend to say max 30 seconds - then the default IP address is activated. So hard to believe this could really take such a long time, because the uC does not retry the DHCP process.
To avoid troubles with the 10Gb SFP+ ports -.start with a 1 GbE port for the connection.
In my ad-hoc test scenarios, I've found some no-nane SFP+ nicely work connecting to 10GbE ports, and typically also GbEports.
Avoid to much variables, and k3p things simple.
Are you native German speaking btw? We coru communicate also in German in case.
Afraid, you still have not told us which FritzBox model you are using, and if some of the ports mih be configured for IPTV or a guest network.

Hi Kurt,

-Kurt.
