Zero Tier not working on RN104

Hi everyone,

just updated my RN104 to 6.10.9 firmware, hoping this would solve the problem, but Zero Tier "nastools-zerotier-one_1.1.14-nt3_armel"  cannot be installed on my NAS.

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot

See How-I-got-apt-update-and-install-to-work-with-Debian-Jessie and ZeroTier-as-a-ReadyCloud-replacement.

I recommend you go with a much newer version, as outlined in the second referenced post.  Even if you do the sources update in the first, I don't think you can upload the one you have from the GUI, but you can from SSH.

Re: Zero Tier not working on RN104

Hi,
I’m really not familiar at all with SSH.

As far as I can understand I only need to activate it on the NAS and then somewhere there will be something like a command line.

Reading the second post I understand that in this command line I only have to paste

curl -s https://install.zerotier.com/ | bash
zerotier-cli join <yournetworkID>
zerotier-cli info

and it should work.

Did I get it right?
Thanks

Yes (the linux command line).  Log in as root using the NAS admin password.

That was true at the time, but is more complicated now.  You need to install these mods:

Also, curl no longer works, you need to download and manually install the appropriate deb file.  What model ReadyNAS do you have?

Re: Zero Tier not working on RN104

There have been events that have made the original instructions no longer valid, and they are covered in the entire thread.  On these forums, you can't just read the first post, as modification may follow.  Users can't modify their posts with new information once anyone has responded or after some time frame that seems to be only minutes.  I realize it's a long thread and can get confusing.  In the thread for updating the Debian repositories, I recently posted a "where we are today" post.  Maybe I should look to do the same with that one.

Two basic ways.

  1. install winscp on the PC, and then make an sftp connection to the NAS.  Use "root" for the username, and the NAS admin password.  You'll be able to navigate to the OS folders from the winscp gui.
  2. Just copy the files you want to edit to a NAS share, edit them in the share, and copy them back when done.

Install the zerotier client on your PC, and add the PC to your zerotier network.
