READYNAS setup as a file server for linux pc's

Hi guys!

I want to use my brand new ReadyNas as a central file server for my linux pc's. I've got 2/3 pc which need to access the same files.

I cannot find help about configuring the nas as a file server.

What is the best protocol I should use? ssh? ftp? nfs?

What settings have I got to select on the nas?

Is there a page discussing the issue? I couldn't find it.

Thank you for your help!

Most of the knowledge base articles are for windows/mac.

You can use SMB, but I think NFS likely works better with linux.  You'd mount the NAS shares on the client PCs, by creating mount points and using the normal mount commands.

Any idea whether file access time will be accettable for normal desktop use?
