ReadyNAS Duo Win7 Error 0x80070035 and No access via Remote
Hi people,
I was hoping I could get some help please.
What I have;
ReadyNas Duo 2120
Desktop PC Windows 7 (wireless)
Laptop Windows Vista (wireless)
Well I got my ReadyNas Duo in January now when I first set up the ReadyNAS RAIDar could not find it (maybe as my pc is connected wirelessly) so I went to my router control panel and got the IP address of the ReadyNAS and connected to it using the IP address 192.168.1.xx/admin/ in the browser address to get to frontview. edit: (RAIDar found it when I used laptop wired to the router just not when wireless)
I then followed the wizard and set it up. I now had access to the ReadyNAS through the following ways;
Network Computers and Devices on Windows 7 (it showed it by its HOSTNAME "NAS-BD-86-xx")
Access via the browser method http://192.168.1.xx/shares/
Access via FTP ftp://192.168.1.xx/
Access via FTP ftp://81.xx.xx.xx/ (IP Address)
Access via ReadyNAS Remote.
The problem I have now is that I switched off the ReadyNAS for a few weeks as It was not going to be used. When I powered it back on I went to Network Computers and Devices and clicked on the "NAS-BD-86-xx" and recieved an error "Windows cannot access \\NAS-BD-86-xx Error Code 0x80070035 The Network path was not found", I never thought much of it maybe just a simple error so I tried ReadyNAS Remote which would show that the ReadyNAS was online but when I clicked to open it it took a long time and it did not open the ReadyNAS files but opened a windows and showed me My Documents? The only ways I can access it was either through the browser http://192.168.1.xx/shares/ or through FTP.
I thought maybe some of the services had been switched off so I login in to admin frontview and checked them, everything was as I had set it. So I decided to turn off the services and then turn them on again later this also made no difference. (All I want to do is access photos on the drive and to be able to view them in thumbnail format as if they were connected locally, which would work when "NAS-BD-86-xx" was clicked on in Network Computers and Devices).
I was now stuck and did not know what to do, so I tried a OS-Reinstall by using paperclip on reset for 5 seconds and then powering on but this also made no difference. I then thought about what else I could possibly do, I went to the Update tab and updated to the lastest firmware 4.1.7 and then tried it all again I still can not access it via the Network or via ReadyNAS Remote?
I need to know if there is a way to sort this out please. Being able to only access via ftp or browser is not good enough for what I need to do, I need to go through 11GB worth of images to find 1 I need and doing that in a browser or FTP will be really time consuming.
Thanks

- techQuilityAspirantI had this same problem. The only way I could get Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 to be able to access the shares on the Readnas, was to to change the security mode of the Readynas to "Share". This is not what we want to use, but we have no choice as this is the only thing that works.
In researching this issue, I think I've determined that this issue is with the Readynas's implementation of CIFS. They are not following industry best practices and some newer OS's have trouble authenticating. Time to get with the program Netgear!
To change the security mode, navigate to http://<ReadnasIP>/Admin
Then go to: Security | Security Mode
Select "Share" and then click "Apply" - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredtechQuilty see http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=340828#p340828
