AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
I have a 1gb connection but barely seeing speeds of 100mbps. Ive called my isp and they said thats it is nothing on their side and that I should factory reset my router. After doing that it ran at 1gb again, after a few months though it reverted back to 100mbps. He said that it was probably due to the firmware of my router. I am currently running v1.0.4.122. If that is the issue id love it if someone could walk me through the process of reverting back to an older firmware.

Re: AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
1. what modem/gateway is the router connected to?
2. are those speeds wired speed? Wireless speeds?
3. what device are you checking speeds on?
4. have you checked your port statistics page?

Re: AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
Has this router seen near 900Mpbs on a wired speed test before the update?

Re: AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
So im not sure what modem/gateway it is, my router is plugged into a fiber optic line via a little box. Those speeds are wired and have been tested on my pc which is connected via Ethernet cord. Ive check on speedtest.net fast.com etc and got 1gb speeds after a full factory reset of my router. But it reverted back to 100mbps speeds. So while fiddling around in my routerlogin page i restarted my router sooooo.

Re: AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
For whatever reason, the one and only active LAN connection negotiates to 100 Mb/s only.
Typical cause is for wrong link rate negotiation is the cabling, or in the physical ports. Start with using a different cable.
What device (computer, switch, ...) is connected to the LAN2 port?

Great, so head to the troubleshooting.

I think this is what youre looking for https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GBBSTEG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
I was originally using a 100ft cord that was 5-6 years old and thought that might cause the speeds to degrade, so I changed to this one about 2 months ago. If thats not what youre asking the ethernet port on my pc is from my mobo which is a msi b450 tomahawk max. Sorry im not great when it comes to networking terms

Re: AC1750 /R6400v2 throttling itself
It was happening with my new cable and my old. I originally thought that a 5-6 year old cable that was 100ft long could degrade the signal so i bought this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GBBSTEG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
I did the factory restart on my router with just my new cable but after a month or so it reverted back to the 100mpbs speeds. Im almost 100% sure that its something to do with the router
