R6120- failed update

I just did the update and now when it tries to restart. All I get is blinking light.
What do I do to fix this?
Please keep in mind that the only device I can use to fix this is my phone.

Re: R6120- failed update

Blinking power light?

Sounds like the firmware might have been corrupted.

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Re: R6120- failed update

Like I said I only have my mobile phone. That I can use to fix this. So android.
My laptop hasn't worked for over a year. And I don't own a PC. That's why I'm having trouble fixing this.

Re: R6120- failed update

If its truly a corrupt firmware issue, it needs to be hardwired into to fix.

If your still within warranty, you could try opening a support case.

To get a hold of support. Click on "MyNetgear" at the top.
Register an account (or login) and then the device.
From there you can start the support process. Keep in mind that its only free for the first 90 days.

Re: R6120- failed update

You're going to have to borrow a laptop to fix it. To unbrick it you'll have to use the tftp method and download the firmware from the netgear site for that model.

Re: R6120- failed update

I bought the thing in 2020, so I don't have the free support anymore but I can still get a new replacement in the next 50 days. So if I can't fix it, I will get a new one.
But for now I will try and get a laptop that I can borrow from someone to fix it.
And thank you for the help.
