I hate my Stora
After hours of re-set, re-flash, re-load etc etc. I have to give it up. The worst piece of crap ever made.
If only I´ve seen this site before I bought my Stora, it would never have happened.
I´ll have to warn all people to buy one
Thanks to you people here, trying to help me - with no help at all from the Stora Support .....

Re: I hate my Stora
Sorry to hear mate. Some peoples are ok and others are not, so many things that can affect/change networks/computers/storas.
Maybe you'll find a NAS solution that works for you. Good luck.

Re: I hate my Stora
just out of curiosity - what problems are you experiencing with the Stora?
It is strange that some people have no problems at all - and others cannot seem to get a working day out of the system - luckily it seems that the latter group is the minority.
Good luck in finding a NAS more suitable for you 🙂

Re: I hate my Stora
Well - If You have a look in the thread "Empty folders" -where I try to describe my problems.
The Stora had worked so and so for some time.
First the Backup jumped and was useless.
Then suddenly it was unable to log on to the Stora.
After days/nights of finding solutions (here on this site - and via Netgear Support - with no help at all) and trying re-set, re-flash, re-config (following exactly the instructions).
As a final solution I tried to connect the HDD directly to my PC, only to find out that all (ALL) my work (photos) were gone. Years of work - the reason to my frustrations.
Just to say that I´m not a computer specialist, but to read this site show me that there are a lot of people with similar problems - and "funny" enough there seems like there are no solutions.

Re: I hate my Stora
So far I'm not so happy with the Stora. As nas it's ok, I can access my files, but the dlna server does not work and timemachine doesn't either. Timemachine has worked when it was connected via the lan, but not wireless.

And because of this you aren't happy and blame the stora?
Take my advice, and not just to solve your stora issue here...lay down $50, get yourself a couple powerline ethernet adapters and ditch the wireless for your high volume data/backups - your problems will go away. 200Mbps Netgear ones can be had for this price at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122383
I have 5 of them in our home - got rid of all the wireless bridges we had and now things are no different than wired everywhere...solid, high speed connections with no delays, no dropped packets, and no disconnects/buffering issues when streaming.
Seriously - the $50 investment is minimal for the increased/reliable networking performance you'll get out of it. Because it's worked so well for us, in those distant locations in our home, I've had to actually put a hub going in to the powerline adapter and a cheap access point because the result is so much better.
Anyhow, again, you don't want to be accessing your stora wirelessly.

Re: I hate my Stora
Hi erlingthybo,
try the "Walktrouth" I made in this thread for another user to check the xfs-filesystem as a last chance.
Remember: File system repair is dangerous.

Re: I hate my Stora
To anyone looking at this forum in the future, I agree 100%. The Stora is pretty old nowadays, so few will probably be buying one, but be warned. After two years of battling on an off with this Stora, I have finally given up. I wish I had never bothered and wasted so many endless evenings trying to make it work (or keep it working on the times it did..).
There is no point at this stage even trying to make sense of the problems. You find a problem on the forum (there are just a few!) and I recon I've had it.
What a total pile. I also hate my Stora.

W00t, only 9 posts in this thread after the product went from infancy to EOL and sold hundreds of thousands of units. I'm a happy support person 🙂
