Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Hi,
I wonder if anyone else is having this problem.
I have my iTunes library in FamilyMusic folder. I have all my images and video from my camera in FamilyPhotos and all other video content in FamilyVideos.
It seems that all FamilyMusic is index, some of my FamilyPhotos and none of FamilyVideos.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
Kind Regards
Matt

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
I am having a similar problem, Folders that don't show up on my DLNA. My videos are always .AVI files, downloaded Series and Movies. For some reason some shows, some does not.
I have tried to do things like;
Unshare with DLNA and then share it again to Index them. Didnt work
I thought it might be a "less than 255 charecter path"-thingy, so I did \STORA\FamilyLibrary\1\1.avi, didnt work either.
 Dont know how to make them appear. If you fix it, then share the solution mate.
Cheers \\ Daniel

I was told by a tech on the phone that the 2.3 firmware update would fix this issue. I have the same problem, not all photo's are showing on different PC's.

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Why isn't there a sticky on this and all the other known bugs?
Why do I have to spend 2 months off and on trying to get this work when a basic opperating function ADVERTISED on the box since march still isn't fixed?
Not giving customers the chance to take back the product once they find out it won't do what it was advertised to do is the sign of a poorly run company out to keep your money at any cost.

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
I have a round 700GB on my Stora, mirrored to a second drive as well.
Since purchasing the unit last November and only on 2 occasions have I had the case where some of my avi files were visible on a PC and Mac, but not on my PS3, which I used as a media player. All I had to do was unshare DMA - wait until this was done ( 30 seconds or so) - and then select share DMA again. It took at least an hour for everything to be indexed again but the files were then visible.
My avis are stored under the Family Videos, this is the folder I unshared and reshared again.

Same problem here, I've had a great experience with my Stora so far. I hope that they get it fixed, very soon. I don't want my thoughts of Netgear to go sour. 😞

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Hi all.
Anybody have any experience on how to easily rectify this issue? I'm experiencing it almost 12 months on from purchase and it has really stopped me using the Stora and the Media players in the house to its full.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
I think I've identified a possible cause to this problem. It's due to MP3 files containing corrupt ID3 tags.
Here's a link to the thread: Bug report: UPNP indexing of MP3s (Stora 2.3.3)

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Well I've been having the same issues and investigated the tags on my mp3s. I can't spot anything obvious that is spotting the Stora from indexing all the music files, as they're all properly tagged anyway.
I moved some of my music files to my PC hard disc and shared via WMP to test it and instantly they're visible on the PS3.
Back on the Stora share the same problems arise.
So, seeing the lack of responses lately I'm suspecting they clearly don't give a sh1t about this?
Last Netgear unit I buy. I expected this thing to be relatively inexpensive without being cheap, but its chepa in every sense of the word. Very disappointed. End users seem to be doing the testing they clearly skimped on during development...

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
On the folder you wish to share, select 'Unshare by DMA'. once that is done, on the same folder, selcet 'Share by DMA'
After a while, depending on the number of files, the stora will sort through all of the data and you should see the files.

Now it´s october 2011 and the problem just got worse, i updated, performed the hardreset, ran the selfcheck and formatted my stora due to another bug a couple of weeks ago and now when i add new files it takes days for my ps3 to actually see them, it was working much better before the last bug that made it unusable. I´m on firmware 2.5.1 and i add mainly tv series and some music, music usually works fine but video hardly works at all. It can´t be possible that i´d have to unshare/share a folder everytime i add a file?
Has anyone gotten this sorted out?

Updated it but removed a file before performing the update, the removed file is still visible in my ps3 and none of the files i added a few hours ago are visible, this rarely happened before 2.5.1 so i guess a minor bug got worse?.
I forgot to mention that the stora "loses index" several times a week too after 2.5.1 update and restarts indexing, annoying when you´ve sat down with some snacks expecting to watch a tv series? Sure.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for reply. It looks like many problems with UPnP functionality on Stora and no one from Netgear wants to solve these issues 😞

I just disabled upnp like said in some other thread and forwarded the ports i can see should be opened when performing the port forwarding test:
http://support.stora.hipserv.com/en/router/testportforward.html
it says port 21 is closed after manually opening it no idea why, any more ports than 21, 22, 80 and 443 that should be opened, anyone?

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Opening ports manually didn´t work any better than upnp, 3 minutes before utorrent dropped the connection as always, port 21 still blocked even though it´s opened both in the router (netgear wnr3500, factory reset and setup again yesterday) and stora, never a dull moment with this machine.

Re: Stora Not Indexing All Files/Folder UPnP & DLNA
Maybe you can try what I described here: http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=70380
This works for me. I can stream video files including external subtitles and also I can see all directories with correct content. This didn't work when I was connected to Stora via UPnP from my TV or network media player.

Turned off upnp in stora yesterday and forwarded the ports and started a test download in utorrent, got home now and have the torrent error "error: the specified network name is no longer available", i get that everytime i try to download smth and have to forcestart them manually again. Now i turned upnp off in the router too and forwarded everything else manually. I´ve always had this problem so i´ve gotten used to it (and that´s not a good thing) but it would be SO nice to get it working, now i just got a new error in utorrent when typing this(error performing inpage operation) on one torrent plus the network name error on another torrent.
Netgear wnr3500 freshly reset and setup with manual port forwarding for stora, utorrent and ps3, upnp turned off in all machines but not getting any wiser.
