Re: Help with install please
Some of this may not help, but try uninstalling the Genie app and re-install the stand alone install you will find on the CD. This will re-install the driver only and see if it will recognize.

You forgot to mention your OS. Try to plug the adapter in a different USB port on your computer.

make sure you are not using USB ports used by other USB device
USB port are paired in block. two USB ports per block so try different USB ports.

Re: Help with install please
uninstall the gene SW and clean the registry.
delete the usb device for the adaptor.
install the genie first than plug the adaptor in.

Re: Help with install please
Click run in the Windows start menu, type "regedit" (without quote marks). Click OK, Go to edit in the menu bar, click find, type "netgear". Hope this works for you!

Down load CCCleaner and run it after you delete the sw.

Re: Help with install please
when i look in my network connections it is there but it is disabled, i try to enable it but it just stays disabled. I am using the standalone driver. I uninstalled everything, went through regedit, and used ccleaner.

Re: Help with install please
This sounds dumb as hell, but rotating the top half of the adapter (antenna) 90 degrees was enough to get me up & going.

Re: Help with install please
I had exactly the same problem. The adapter was not found by the Genie but it was installed by windows. I did not have to clean the register. I restart the PC and that was it. After restarting I was connected.

Re: Help with install please
I'm having the same issues, I've been completely unsuccessful installing this usb adapter and all the recommended fixes don't seem to work.
What I have tried so far
1) Uninstall Genie and use the standalone install. (CD version of the installer) - Genie stated it was unable to find the adapter after I inserted it.
2) CCCleaner to clean registry before installations and after uninstalls.
3) Alternating USB ports and different USB speeds (2.0 and 3.0 ports)
4) Using the Standalone-V1.0.011-win81_signed.exe - which comes with A6200-V1.0.026-1
5) Restarting after each install.
6) Installation on second machine
The first machines specs
Windows 7 Professional
Service Pack 1
Intel(R) CoreTM i7-2600k
8GB Ram
64bit OS
ASUS Maximus Gene-z Motherboard.
Symptoms:
1) Genie is unable to find usb adapter after its plugged in.
2) With Standalone install wifi adapter appears in Network Connections but remains disabled, attempting to enable fails and adapter remains disabled.
3) Single longer flash from the WPS light on the side, followed by a short flash and then the light remains off.
Any other suggestions ? otherwise I guess I'll be returning it as it cost about $150 (in South Africa)

Re: Help with install please
This is ridiculous. Almost $40 and it doesn't work. I get the same thing "The NETGEAR WNA1000M adapter is not found."
Yet WINDOWS finds, WHY CAN'T THE NETGEAR SOFTWARE FIND IT??!?!?!?!??!

If something is not plugged to it, how can a USB port be in use?
