Software fails to install for Nighthawk AC1900 (A7000 ?) on macOS Monterey 12.4

I've just bought at Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi USB Adapter. I have a Mac mini running macOS Monterey 12.4.

I downloaded Software Version 1.0.0.13 Mac

I tried to install it, and approved the security request to do so.

It gets a certain amount through but it says "The instillation failed" and that it "encountered an error that caused the instillation to fail" but unhelpfully doesn't say what the error is.

I can see the small software icon at the top of my screen but it says No NETGEAR A7000 Plug in.

Plugging the device into the USB port doesn't seem to help (and the port otherwise works)

Rebooting doesn't seem to help.

Using the software icon and asking it to uninstall seems to do nothing but on rebooting the icon is gone. 

Reinstalling doesn't seem to help.

Using the next older version doesn't seem to help.

 

How do I get my new purchase working please?

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Doesn’t work with Monterey.

That's a shame, and since I was on holiday it is past time to return it.

I hope Netgear will get their software working soon on the latest version of a popular operating system. Otherwise I guess the product gets given to the charity shop rather than being put into electrical waste for recycling.
