Wifi extender EXT2700 speed

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help I have my Wi-Fi extender connected, speeds and getting a very low in comparison with my normal Wi-Fi. I am getting speeds of 20 MBS with the extender, but I have speeds on my home Wi-Fi of 130 MBS?

Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Wifi extender EXT2700 speed

The EX2700 in a 2.4ghz extender. 2.4ghz is a slow network.

and single and dual band extenders cut throughput 50% because they have to use the same chip to go router---extender and then extender---devices and can't do both at once.

so 20-25mbps is about all you can expect from that extender.

Ah, so Im stumped with that one`! Thanks for helping!

I did wonder if it wasnt possible, are Powerline wifi  adaptors a better bet?

Re: Wifi extender EXT2700 speed

Powerline adapters are great devices. they don't work well in every home because certain things in home can cause interference. so if you try one, buy it from somewhere with a decent return policy. Speeds also drop a lot when you move from one circuit to the next.

If you're needing to keep your speeds up, a triband has a dedicated backhaul. but they're significantly more expensive.

Re: Wifi extender EXT2700 speed

While many questions are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

In this case, you have put your message in the section given over to USB adaptors, which have next to nothing in common with extenders.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

I have no idea what that means. Which product and advertise where?

If you are looking for a wifi extender, rather than a USB adapter or Powerline system, a good place to start would be the product pages for those devices.

Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:

Wireless Routers for Home | NETGEAR

and

Orbi: Whole Home WiFi System for Better WiFi Everywhere | NETGEAR

Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.
