Cannot Factory Reset ProSafe GS108

hello everyone,

 

I am having a hard time resetting my ProSafe 8 ports Gigabit Switch (GS108). I can't find the reset button anywhere.

I cannot find the IP address using the SmartWizard Discovery tool either.

 

What can I do to get this switch up and running?

No IP assigned at all, no management access of any kind.

That's a little bit difficult because of this GS108 is a non-managed switch - noting to reset.

 

What's the problem with it?

oh I see. When you say it is an unmanaged switch, there is no way I can open the browser page for it right? So it will always be given an IP address by the DHCP?

I wanted to set a static IP address for it that's all.

Perfect!!! Thanks a lot @schumaku  for the orientation.

The switch works well. I have it running right now. No static IP though; but I guess that's okay.

 

I never would have thought it was an unmanaged switch 'cause I don't know much about switches. I am quite new to networking and it has is a learning curve, but I intend to keep gaining more knowledge from others as well.
