Cannot See NAS USB 3.0 External Drives

I have a pair of 5TB external drives connected via the USB 3.0 to my ReadyNAS 102 (v6.7.1), which has a pair of RAID 1 5TB drives inside.  I don't see the external drives when I manage the NAS.  What am I doing wrong?  I thought it should have been plug-n-play.  The drives mount when connected directl to a PC.  I just can't see them through the NAS 102.

Thanks for the help.

Somehow this post showed up in the "DSL Modems & Routers" subfoum here.

Possible reson why the ReadyNAS does not automatically detect and mount the external storage might be a ReadyNAS incopatible/unsupported file system like exFAT on the HDDs.
