Files/folders not showing up on TV!

hey guys. I am the owner of a Duo v2. Its a great product but I am having a problem with it.

Basically, whenever I transfer some files to the nas(say, breaking bad season3 for example, as the folder 'breaking bad s03' and then all the episodes in that folder), there's a good chance that when I browse the NAS via my tv, that I won't be able to see the files i just transferred onto the NAS. If i browse the NAS through windows on my PC I can see the files no worries. It's like the files are there but they just can't be detected. Then, if I delete, and maybe re-add the files but not in a folder, then browse the nas via TV.. voila! there they are! It seems to be completely random at when the NAS wants to play ball and when it doesn't, which is extremely frustrating
also operating in reverse. If there is a folder/files that i can sucessfully see/browse on my TV and i delete them off of the nas.. they will just stay there! if you try watch them it says check network connection.. but they wont go away! and then randomly next time im browsing the nas theyll be gone!

a bit of info :- My TV (samsung smart tv) and the NAS are both up to date on firm ware. (RAIDiator 5.3.8 )
-I have tinkered around a bit with the settings via the NAS dashboard but nothing serious cause I don't want to break anything
-My method of transferring files is I have created a network drive in "My computer" and then I just drag and drop from my hard drive to there.
-I read mkv files with header compression or something can cause errors with the nas scanning the drive.. (I have done a fair bit of googling trying to fix this) so I deleted every mkv off the HDD and it didnt fix anything.

any help appreciated, this problem is really pissing me off because it takes away the whole 'convenience' of having a NAS in the first place!

Did you try logging into the dashboard, and doing a manual rescan of the files? This is under configure (click readydlna under services, and you should see a control to rescan).
  • ok so i tried hitting that rescan button.. still not fixing the issue.. right now (as im posting) the "TV series" folder that I have had on the nas since the day I bought it has vanished! its most definitely still there, just not visible from the TV! pretty god damn annoying.... what sharing protocols should i have on? are there any special settings that need to be correctly tuned for this to work? whats the point in having a nas if i cant see the files on it.. sigh

ReadDLNA has the DLNA protocol built into it, so I don't think there are any missing protocols. The rescan does take a while, was it complete when you posted?
  • Hi

I have this same problem on a Duo v2. Video folders dont show up on my brand new Sony BPDS5100, or my Xperia mobile or in WindowsMedia Player on my Windows 7 ULTIMATE 64-bit

I can see & play audio files from the Duo', & I can play audio & video files from my Win 7 PC on the Sony Devices. This problem is specific to video files on the Duo'.

    Thank you

    Craig
