Maximum Harddisk Capacity
I currently have 6 Western Digital 6Tb drives in my 516NAS....at 36TB now (18GB usuable with RAID 10).. WD has a new 8TB HDD. Does the NAS support this extra size/capacity..i.e. 6x8TB=48TB (24GB with RAID 10) or is 36Tb the max?

That article has old information about the supported disk capacities.
The highest capacity disks on the Hard Disk Compatibility List are 8TB disks at this time. The ST8000NE0001 and HUH728080ALE604. Some 8TB disks don't fit in the drive trays and/or are not suitable for RAID use.
As for what the maximum disk capacity that will work that remains to be seen. As higher disk capacities become available there can be software fixes needed to provide the best support for the disks, which we would provide in firmware updates for current products. However it is possible that there may be hardware limitations that may be run into.
If you use a disk outside the compatibility list then support may refuse to help if you run into issues.

The HCL still seems to lag. The ST8000VN002 and the WD80EFZX are both NAS purposed drives.
WD80EFZX is the same physical size as the WD60EFZX (which is on the list) ...just 8TB instead of 6TB. I bet it will work fine. I'll give it a shot....
