ReadyNAS 102 Squeezebox Touch connection issue
Hi all, new here so please be nice :D
Ok so I've bought myself a Squuezebox Touch and a ReadyNAS 102 in which I installed 2 WD RED 3TB disks.
The goal is to be able to stream all my music files from the RN102 through the Squeezebox Touch.
I share a wireless connection with the neighbours, to which my Squeezebox and laptop both connect.
I installed LMS 7.7.3 on the RN102 using the GUI, launched it and it scanned all my music files I had transferred to the 102.
So now I have connected my RN102 to my Squeezebox with an ethernet cable and I want to acces my music on the RN102, but how do I do that?
I tried Settings>advanced>networking>connect to ethernet, first it wouldn't connect, then I tried connecting manually by inputting the IP adress of the RN102.
So now my squeezebox does see the NAS, but when I now go to "my music" in the main menu on the SB, it prompts me to "switch to a different library, which will stop playback" but when I try to do so, it still isn't able to connect to the NAS. :?
I was under the impression that the RN102 was compatible with the SBT, am I missing something? Have I overlooked something? I would imagine I would still need to provide my admin login information to acces the NAS through the SBT?
Are there people out there who succesfully connected their SBT with their RN102? Any info or direction would be tremendously helpful, thank you. :D
Thanks a bunch in advance and kindest regards,

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you follow the instructions here?: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ie9pwk1wut72ias/AACr8V9vMB2dC5lbj03l5VyDa/Logitech%20Media%20server
- LaszloFolgertsAspirant@mdgm: thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I got LMS running on the RN102. I uploaded both files in the specified order. I got confirmation that the Logitec deb file was installed successfully but I'm not sure if I got that same confirmation for the lms deb file. However, it did appear in the "installed apps" list and I was able to launch it from there.
- super_poussinVirtuosocan you try 7.8.0 and LMS 1.7.0 ?
- LaszloFolgertsAspirant@super-poussin: that was actually the first version I tried, with the same result. Then I tried the 7.7.3 version, which I now have running.
I'll try the 7.8.0 version one more time though, just to be sure.
By the way: Is there a proper step-by-step way to connect your squeezebox with your RN102? Because all I'm really doing is trying stuff I think might work as I'm not very network savvy... - vandermerweMasterI am little confused by your network setup with the touch. It cannot connect wirelessly and by Ethernet at the same time. Either it is connecting to a network by wifi, and that is the same network to which the readynas is connected, or you have the touch connected by Ethernet to the network, or directly to the nas.
Have you tried connecting the nas to a router or switch and that in turn to the nas?
How does your pc connect to the readynas?
Could you explain how the touch is connecting to the network, if it's connecting via wifi to your neighbours network, the nas would also need to be on the same network.
EDIT: OK I see you have it working now. - LaszloFolgertsAspirant:D I 've got it working!! :D
I had a hunch about adding a gigabit switch, so I went and got one.
I didn't get it to work right away, so I removed the 7.7.3 version of LMS and uploaded 7.8.0. I had to do that twice, actually, because the LMS deb file wouldn't confirm being uploaded.
After that I turned LMS on and launched the app. Then I went to my squeezebox to setting>advanced>networking>ethernet
First it will tell you it isn't able to connect because it can't find a DHCP. You then have the option of adding the IP of your ReadyNAS manually. You're also being asked for a subnet mask, gateway IP adress and a DNS but you can just hit "done" each time because those values are already inserted. After that it confirmed being connected to ethernet.
Then I went to "My music" from the main menu and I could access my files right away! I'm so happy!! :D
Thanks everyone for the replies and special thanks for Pussin for developing the LMS app!!! - LaszloFolgertsAspirantI have another thing going on...
Sometimes, when the squeezebox has been turned off, I have to manually enter the IP-adress of the RN102 again, because the SB wasn't able to connect on its own.
Is there a way so that I don't have to do this every time the SB has been turned off? It's pretty annoying if I have to manually enter the IP-adress every time I want to access my music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Laszlo - vandermerweMasterThe network settings you describe above, are you sure those are not the settings for the touch itself?
The squeezebox normally retains the server details unless the server IP address changes. Is the readynas on a static IP address.
Perhaps post all of the network settings from the squeezebox, you network subnet mask, and your readynas network settings then we can start working out what is wrong - LaszloFolgertsAspirant@vandermerwe: thanks for the reply. Here are my settings:
Ip adress: 192.168.137.179
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP adress: 192.168.137.1
DNS: 192.168.137.1 (same as above)
It also happens when I switch back from wifi, for instance when I wanted to listen to internet radio. If I then want to switch back to ethernet, it won't connect by itself and I have to enter all those values again.
Switching to wifi is no problem though, those settings apparently are stored on the SB.
thanks in advance - vandermerweMasterIt should retain the ethernet settings too, however if you switch from ethernet to wifi and back I'm not sure it does, I'll test this.
What is the IP address of the NAS?
