ReadyNAS NV+ and Popcorn Hour C-200
I had great success with my Popcorn Hour A-110 pulling content from the NV+ so I picked up a Popcorn Hour C-200 to create a second set-up.
When I browse the network on the C-200, it "sees" the NV+ but when I try to connect, it asks for a password for the NV+ which the other PCH didn't.
I enter the default username and password and it doesn't connect.
I see this old thread http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=33410 and it says...
"...access the smb.conf file on the nas, which points to another set of configuration files under /etc/frontview/samba. In the Shares.conf file in this directory i found for the media share that i have set up, the only valid users for this share are "media":"
...but I don't see where to access these files. Anyone?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou need ssh access to look at files on the OS partition. Though since your A-110 works fine, I am thinking it should not be necessary. Based on the old thread you linked in, it appears that the easiest solution is to use NFS to access the NAS. That would also give you better performance than SMB/CIFS
Are you using Share security or User security with the NAS? What firmware are you using? - immikemurphyAspirantStephen,
I think I can switch to NFS but not sure what security I'm using nor what firmware. Are you talking about the NAS or the Popcorn Hour?
Nothing has changed on the NAS and I've hooked the older PCH up and it works great so I assume the problem is with the PCH C-200 - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou'd enable NFS on the media shares in the NAS, and configure the PCH to use NFS.
If you are using share security on the NAS, there would be a password set up for each share (which all users accessing that share use). With user security, each user account has its own password. With user security, you tell Frontview which users / groups are allowed to access the share (and whether they have read/write access or just read access).
Share security is deprecated, because it has issues with newer versions of windows. - immikemurphyAspirantThanks so much for your help Stephen. Got it working just fine.
I do have another questions that should likely get it's own thread...actually I'll start it and then link to it here. It's regarding swapping my NV+ from 4 drives with 2 mirrors to just 4 drives. I'll edit this post with a link....
