ReadyNAS NV+ no power

My ReadyNAS NV+ suddenly stopped working, it won't turn on and theres no reponse from pressing the power button. I tried a diffrerent power cable but I think the power supply is dead. Is there any way to diagnose the PSU and where can I find a replacement,

Model: RND4450|ReadyNAS NV+ 2TB (4 X 500GB)

I'll just do that now and I guess buy a new one soon.

It looks right, but it's not a procedure I've done myself (though I did do a replacement of the PSU in my own NV+, it was a warranty replacement).  Hopefully @Sandshark will chime in.

Note if you are just wanting to offload data, you can get by with a normal ATX supply, and make the pinout mod in a extension cable.  The supply won't fit into the NAS, but it will work as a temporary measure

Sounds like it.

You can purchase a replacement - including RND4PSU1-10000S in your search string might help track them down.

FWIW, there is one on US Amazon for about $70.  Though there are reviewer comments saying that you have to modify the chassis to get it to fit.  There's another one listed there that appears not to have the issue, but costs around $120.

It is possible to use an off-the-shelf supply that costs less - but you will need to modify the pinout if you go this route.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ no power

It's missing some steps.  First, he selected a replacement supply that has a similar top cover so he could put the original one on the new supply.  Not all Flex ATX supplies will accomodate that.  But more importantly, he has removed the fan.  That's not typically necessary, but you do need to disconnect it's power for use in all but the oldest Infrant model NV's that still have that fan and an exhaust port for it.  Alternately, you can find a way to mount the supply back from the original position so the fan has a place to exhaust and not swap out the cover (I did that using aluminium duct tape), but that does also leave a gap where the power cord plugs in and you don't want to cover too much of the vent holes in the bottom of the unit..  There are a few supplies that have the fan on the other end (and those are what most who advertise direct replacements are using), but they tend to cost a lot more.  Lastly, some don't have an ATX cable quite long enough, so you might need an extender.

If it's just a temporary solution to recover files to put on a new NAS, then using a standard ATX supply and an adapter cable externally works well.  Make the pin swaps he lists in the adapter cable.  Just be sure to seal the gap that the cable runs out of with masking tape or similar so as not to adversely affect airflow.
