ReadyNas Duo RND2110 V2 Power off after insert first disk

I acquired a ReadyNas Duo RND2110 V2. With no drives inserted the unit powers up ok and all leds flash. I can see the NAS on the Network with Raidar. I have a brand new WD Green 2TB WD20EZRX drive, right out of the box, unformatted. When I insert this into either drive slot, the unit powers off. The Nas will not power back on. If I power off the NAS with no drives, insert the WD drive, the power button does nothing. Any advice?

Is this a new unit, or did you get it used?

It was used.

If the disk works ok with a PC, then I think you purchased a defective unit.

Re: ReadyNas Duo RND2110 V2 Power off after insert first dis

Hi there, thanks for your reply. As an update, this box is now working.
It's actually a V1 box, as the fw was 4.1.6 and the box is a metallic black colour...so it's a
Infrant Sparc CPU.

I tried the WD20EZRX drive in an old PC I had, but it wasn't recognised. Hmm. I then got a laptop SATA hdd and that wasn't recognised in the PC either... so I delicately inserted it into the (powered off) Nas ...and the NAS powered up ok and Raidar showed the drive working in the NAS box. I then tried the WD20EZRX in the Nas box with OPT1 enabled (jumper on pins 5-6), 1.5Gb/sec transfer speed enabled. The NAS is now working fine, formatted the WD20EZRX and all is well.
Thought this might be of use to anyone else with a similar problem.

That's a bit odd. The WD20EFRX works with my duo v1 with no change in jumpers, and I haven't seen any posts here from people needing to force the transfer rate. I'm sure lots of other people are using the WD20EZRX in their v1 NAS.

You should upgrade the firmware - it's ancient, and might be the reason you had this problem.

BTW you do have a v1, no doubt about it.
