Readynas 104 - Slow transfer speeds
I have a ReadyNAS 104 running latest FW 6.6.0. NAS is filled with 4 drives (2x Western Digital Red 4TB, 2x HGST 4TB) in X-Raid. During performance tests, I am getting the following speeds using NAS performancetester -
Running warmup...
Running a 400MB file write on 5 times...
Iteration 1: 14.35 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 13.95 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 14.27 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 13.96 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 13.34 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (W): 13.97 MB/sec

Running a 400MB file read on 5 times...
Iteration 1: 16.19 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 16.47 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 16.34 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 16.18 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 15.42 MB/sec
-----------------------------
Average (R): 16.12 MB/sec

Antivirus is disabled, async is enabled on the test folder, and the NAS is for the most part setup with default settings.
Any suggestions on improving performance?

These are my test speeds when directly connected by CAT6 from my laptop to the NAS, slightly faster but still slower than expected.

What is the disk configuration (including RAID mode)? Is bitrot protection on?
Also, how old is the data volume? There have been settings changes over the years that increase performance, but you need to build a new volume to take advantage of them.
Note that NasTester speeds also depend on the laptop disk performance, since the test is a disk-to-disk transfer. Is the laptop using an SSD?

I am running RAID 5. Bitrot is disabled.
Data volume is about 7 months old. However, NAS has been powered down for 99% of that time. It was setup and has not been used since.
Yes, I am using an SSD on my laptop. I have also tried using my desktop and get similiar transfer speeds.
- 3xXAspirantNot full at all. It's basically a new volume, 99% free space
